Some advice needed. Removed a brand new never fired Savage Model SS 16 action and it was a booger bear to get off. Initially I thought it was galling, but I continued to have some success going back and forth so I alternated between gun flush in the threads and a light oil to prevent any issues. After finally getting it off I immediately noticed two spots in the threads on the action. Rough spot where scope bases screw is and a one inch spot in third row of threads where threads were not cut clean. So my question is, should I try to return to savage if this is even possible, find a 1.12x20tpi die and try to chase it to correct thread issue, or is this very complicated and just pay a gunsmith to correct?
I'm sure I can force it back onto another barrel, but rather not and correct problem so it's no longer an issue in the future.
Thanks ahead for any advice.
