This really grinds my gears, I cannot continue to support a company that blatantly rips off another small businesses product. I am honestly speechless at this move by them. I could not believe my eyes when the video popped up on youtube.

Hornady clearly has zero shame in their business tactics and I will not be buying another single product from them!

Here is their comment form, just sent my displeasure with their scummy business tactics.

Not agreeing or denying this but with several of the new 2025 Hornady items (bullets, trimmer) it appears they are offering very similar or potential identical products. We can only guess but there may have been business agreements with some of the other companies in which they are actually producing the items for Hornady or receiving payment to use their design and intellectual property rights. This could be a good thing for the other business if that is the case as it helps with their bottom dollar also.

Every two stage trigger ever designed for a gas gun was a copy of the Garand trigger. Millazo even managed to get a patent for his copy. Which was a joke.

Mechanical gizmos have like function. Everyone borrows from everyone.

It certainly is the same layout. But if they had used a flat bearing slider instead of two tubes, it would have looked different, but it would have been the same.

The concept of the slider is so simple it's not patentable. Other than that, all the other pieces appear to be their own designs.

Every guitar ever produced is a 'rip off" of a Les Paul or a Stratocaster to some extent.

that's what bothers me the most, didn't even try and hide it.

Todd is WAY too good of a dude for me to continue to buy hornady stuff after seeing this.

I had a guy copy my 3 inch benchrest bag rider. An exact copy. And he started selling them in eBay. Funny thing is my part was BANNED from eBay as being an "assault rifle part".

Time marches on.

I mean I bet that guy that invented the two wheel bicycle was pissed that his design became what we call a "bicycle", and everyone copied it. Or not.

It is what it is. 30 years in the engineering design game taught me that everyone copied everyone.

There are three possibilities: Henderson doesn’t have a patent that applies, Hornady made something different, or Hornady is betting that their legal costs will be paid for with profit.

Unfortunately patent law is a mess anymore. Truly unique and new designs are the exception in patent law not the norm. I was recently looking at patents for work and someone patented very basic math that sort of describes the tubercles that are on the leading edge of a humpback whale fin. The patent holder doesn’t make any product with tubercled fins and I’m sure they’re just out to harvest settlement or licensing money from the countless companies who have reason to add tubercles to improve the efficiency of their airfoils and hydrofoils. The math was fuzzy enough that most any example could be shown to “follow” the patented algorithms. I feel for the inventors who get ripped off and can’t afford to defend their patent in the legal morass.

We live in a time when Chinese knock offs of American company products are regarded as a "good budget alternative" to the real thing. These exact copies of "made in USA" products are promoted everywhere openly and the American people celebrate their ability to buy CHINESE CRAP cheaply on Amazon, eBay, harbor freight, etc etc ... this is the American culture now. No one is interested in stopping that, which is a much larger problem.

The hypocrisy of it all is beyond my comprehension.

If you put an invention out there in the public domain, it will be borrowed from or outright copied. To point out one company as a villain is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500.

it's one thing for a chinese company to do it, but its another thing for Hornady to do it. This is very low of them.

I do not understand someone getting all worked up over a company coming out with a product simular or even copied as such from someone else. If there is a violation in a law in doing so, then those involved can settle the matter in court.
However, I also get a kick out of some that slam a company for improving our sport and equipment.
In regards to Hornady and some things said, do they not realize that in the last or past quarter century various things from equipment to cartridges, they may be shooting a enjoying say from the 204 to the PRC, some heavy big game cartridges have been brought to the fore by Hornady ? Plus some fine bullets used by many, in competition and hunting/shooting.
They should thank them, not be running them down. And this could apply to some other companies that have helped out shotting sports, also.
If it really upsets you/then so much then no matter which company it is, just don't buy from them and see how many things you would go without.
