New rifle for factory class

Now that Memphis range is going IBS and I will be able to shoot in 3 different classes I need a factory class rifle. I will also be shooting some 1000 yard matches at Missouri Benchrest. Should I go with 6br or 6.5x284 Savage Fclass ?

I also thought about the new T3 sporter in .260 or 6.5x55 anyone shot one of these?

You will be happy with the 6BR and it will last 2-3 times longer.

You will be happy with the Savage if you can get along with the trigger..Who cares how long the barrel last..As long as it is winning the longer range...LT

The stock taper rule does not apply to Long Range Benchrest.

I'm currently shooting the Benchrest model in .308. With 155.5 Bergers and 46 grains of H-4895 it's a lot more beast than the 6 BR customs I'm accustomed to but I can get it to shoot in the 0.2's to 0.3's at 100 so I think it will be competitive.

Out of wild curiosity, what sort of velocities are you able to get out of your H-4895 loads? I've tried the new XBR powder (which should be a similar burn rate) in roughly the same quantities, and am unable to get the velocity I'd like out of them. To be sure, I am looking for 1000 yard velocity, not 100/200.

Factory class seems to be gaining in popularity. Many IBS score events for 2012 include a factory class. However there are no rules published by IBS for the factory class. It seems to be left to the individual club to 'manage' the class as best they see fit. Is there a danger of buying a rifle for the factory class that might not meet local rules?
I like the idea of letting the 'factory' decide what is eligible for the class, as long as the rifle is a catalog item and is produced to factory specs (not to customers specs one-off style). It would be a shame to exclude a true factory rifle for any reason that makes it a good out-of-the-box shooter. That it might outshoot another class of rifle is irrelevent.

Talk to whoever runs the matches at the ranges you think you'll be shooting your Factory class rifle at. Find out their rules. Make sure the rifle your spending your money on meets these requirements. At some ranges, just because you buy it from "Scheels" does not automatically mean it is Factory.
