New Mcmillan F-open stocks

I am glad to finally see some pics. I have read the press releases and other posts about the new model but nothing on their webpage at all.

So far as I know the stocks themselves are the same lengths. Obviously the aluminum lowering rails of the zr add to that length. I have flat tops ordered. I assume you can order now.

The zr version with the aluminum lowering rails should rock. Im glad to see the rails in the R as well. Love seeing new stuff like this when its an actual improvement over what we have had access to.

I know Danny Biggs came up with/has something similar or maybe even exactly...and of course Dan Bramley. These are the two I personally know of, there may be others.

Two years ago Dan sent me the instructions on how to do this stock modification,,,honestly it was above my pay grade and I took a different stock route. I can appreciate having the opportunity to shoot the finished version of this style of stock without having to butcher a couple getting from point a to b.

Just a thought. Why don't they make it where the "rail" system is interchangeable? Looks to me like the stock is basically the same other than the aluminum rail system. Make the rails an accessory the would slide into a dovetail system that is mounted on the side, or just bolt all the way through from one side to the other. Also a thought would be to slightly radius the corners that ride the bag so it won't cause premature bag wreckage. Just thoughts.

Keep in mind this is very "in the rough" straight out the mold type deal and far from a finished product. I like your thinking.

I follow that it's in its beginning stages. I've had stocks over the years that I wish were designed with more versatility in the beginning. I understand one stock won't always be perfect. But this looks like a great idea that could have the options of one stock with both front bag riders optional.
