NEW MAGNETO SPEED

I think using a Picatinny rail mount or something similar would really let you get the most out of the magneto speed. Does anybody know if those are commercially available?

Thanks Bro, I think that will be the extent of my use as well. I'm not gonna dwell on S D s at all because in the past I have seen small and large S D loads shoot into the same hole at 100 yds. which is all I have at the moment.

Straightshooter, your photo doesn't include velocities, did you have readings for each shot?

Yes, the MagnetoSpeed didn't miss a shot and got readings for each shot, see pic below.

Note also, my new barrel that it was mounted on has a muzzle diameter of .900".

I've been using a MS Sporter for a few years now. I had issues with it sliding on the barrel, but I took one of the extra rubber pads and put it under the strap on top of the barrel as well, it no longer slides around. I tend to write down my velocities as I shoot, which helps me keep from heating the barrel up too much, so its just fine for me instead of downloading to an external device.

The MS Sporter will probably work on a rimfire can as long as it's not much over 1in diameter but for centerfire cans you'd want to get their V3 model.

For what it is (a barrel mounted chronograph), the MagnetoSpeed Sporter is great! Dead simple, very accurate, and mine's never missed a shot. About as close to a "plug and play" chronograph there ever was.

Never had any kind of trouble with my sporter. Loose strap or misreading the shots. It has worked very well.
I bought a V3 recently and have the sporter in the classified section.

V3 stock adapter set works fine on YHM Phantom.
Mine works great if i do my part.
Only problems are loose nut behind the trigger.
V3 mount needs snugged up or loose suppressor.

I am curious how you end up feeling about it after use Bill. Debating the V3 myself. My old Chrono has gave up the ghost apparently. Don't think the sporter will work with a suppressor and I normally only shoot suppressed.

If you are going to get one it is well worth going with the V3, The display is much better, it shows much more info at once and has more control buttons so it is much easier to navigate.

I dont know about the Sporter version but I think that is one of the improvements on the V3, It comes with a rubber piece that stays on the strap and is in contact with the barrel instead of the nylon strap. I have never had nine slip on the barrel.

Yea, Im thinking I should have gotten the V3 but I'll try it out and see how it works.

Ive got the v3, not a issue with it to date.
Sometimes you need to recheck settings, otherwise performs great.
