NEW MAGNETO SPEED

I've had a Sporter for about three years now , with no issues , whatsoever . Just be sure you carry a new spare battery in your range bag . If you start missing shots , check the battery voltage . Yes ; It does change POI , but so will a mirage shield , or anything else you attach to your barrel .

Just arrived from range. Have to say that I'm more than pleased with Sporter. Device was easy to instal on barrel and very easy to operate with XFR and iPad.
With Tikka T3 Varmint 222 there was no problem with strap tightness.
Just happy that I did not purchase Caldwell or spend lot of euros on Labradar.

I have a Sporter, and my only complaint is it will not stay tight on barrels. I had an old rest that the bag ripped upon, so I drilled a hole in it and now I have a mount and don't have to tighten the straps every few shots.

I moved my sporter back too far at my last range session
Set up on your barrel and especially really thick barrels can have some erratic readings.
Its important you have your measurements from your muzzle to your Arm according to
Magneto speed guidelines or your numbers will not always be correct...found this out
the hard way with a 1.250 barrel...your Sporter may or may not work in this application.

Ha yea, getting over 3200 FPS for a 6.5 creedmoor sure seemed hot!

I never had an issue with loosening of the strap on three barrels.

I assume you are backing out the thumb nut as much out as possible, tightening the strap by hand as tight as it gets then tightening the thumb nut. The tighter the nut the tighter the strap.

Yes I am. Also, with the mount I have now, I can switch guns and not have to move the MS from one rifle to the next.

I could not get the sporter model I had to function so I sent it back to Midway. Think I will look elsewhere next time.

My old chronograph was a Pact it works well but was time consuming setting it up.
My oldest Grandson has it now.
The Magneto Speed is a lot easier to take to the range.

I just used one for the first time yesterday, took me a while to get in on tight but that's just being unfamiliar with it. Only shot 33 rounds with it on then another ten with it off. Worked well but missed two readings, only recorded 31.

I fired three rounds to zero with the chronograph on the barrel. Had to move right 0.6 mil and down 2.0 mil. When I took it off the groups were the same as the ones with it on just lower and to the left but same size. I like it so far.

See they are offering tapered shims for tapered sporter barrels now. Seems like a good option to me. How did they get by without these tapered shims b4?

Seems like a good idea to me as well. I have a tapered barrel and as a result one of the pickups, sensors, magnets whatever they are, is a little further away from the path of the bullet than the other. I just adjusted it until both pickups were within specs, but would rather have them the same.
