New Gun Range possible in Texas with possible 1000 yard targets. Any interest?

An easy F Class start up is a flat place to lay. Berms at 600 and 1000 yards with wood holders for E-targets. 3-5 would be a number to starts with. About $4000 for 5 Shotmarker systems.

I am in the process of having a house built in the Canyon Lake area. Would love to be able to drive West and help out the business.

Our sport is and has been in trouble lately.... With kids being educated with an anti gun agenda , helping new shooters get started is a big thing to me.... So any new gun range is a positive thing... I work as a RO for a small range but I do see plenty of guys with very nice built rifles that come out , setup and shoot even though we only have 25 , 100 , 200 and 300 yard ranges for rifle but with what I consider nice concrete benches so I would say a nice new long range range would definitely draw people and money.... There's plenty of money around Austin and the Hill country and plenty of shooters....
long range bench rest has morphed into almost a rich mans game. since around 70% of workers make under 50K which leads to limited participation

If you do build the Range ?
Try for more than one Type Shooting .
200,300,500,600,800,900&1000
NRA Matches Service Rifle ,Palma& F/ Class
Bench Rest and Steel .
And Load developers.
You could get a larger group with different shooting types?

Pits and E-Targets are Great .

Josh, being as you recently moved to the area I have no idea who all you know there but, I think you'd appreciate having another person or two that could help. Two heads are better than one kinda thing. Projects like this can get overwhelming pretty quickly.

Always happy to find another range of any kind being built. Expanding the sport is essential to the Second Amendment. If it's going to be long range you're going to have to have a way to qualify people to shoot. The average guy with his deer rifle isn't going to be able to hit anything much at 1K.

Good luck with the range. A great young man I know put in a 1500 yd. range in Kaufman (North East Texas Tactical) in 2011 and it was tied up in litigation until just last year because of a neighbor that basically doesn't like guns and was kin to the county judge. It's up and going now but he is pretty selective of who he lets shoot at long range. You basically have to qualify to do that.
There are a lot of differences between the different long range disciplines. Steel, F-Class, IBSC Benchrest, etc. but growing the sport is essential for our survival in the future.

Josh,
Once the competitions start up again, you should invite the ranch owner and manager to come and see what it is like. Most people don't have a clue and describing it doesn't always plant the correct image. These guys are going to have to run through a lot of hoops to do this, to start the venture without a clear understanding, they may just drop the subject figuring it is more of a hassle than it is worth.

I know two or three folks from the
San Antonio area that would be interested.

I'm in Bell County and would gladly make the trek for a day trip, a weekender or overnighter. If possible, set rails at 200m, 300m, 385m, and 500m to accommodate high power silhouette. Another high power silhouette venue is always a good thing!

Josh, this is pretty popular at Atglen and the way the upper is set up.

if you say so but I figure it is mathematically impossible
You should go to a match. Mostly retired guys that were middle class now on a fixed income and the rest are mostly just middle class- $80k and below. It does seem you need lots of disposable income but i see the majority saving money or selling something to buy something and upgrading equipment as they go. Youd need to be pretty rich to step out on the first day- dont see that very often.
