NEW! Berger 308 bullet with wicked 0.328 G7 BC!

Thanks. Had I not gotten burned last Nationals on one match having to use a new lot of bullets for my very last string (with minimal testing), I'd be loading these bad boys up for Lodi. See you there? Drew

I can't make it this year unfortunately, I'll be keeping a close eye on you boys though! Best of luck out there!

High risk = high reward ;). Come on, you know you want to.

I have a 1/10 22" .308 Winchester barrel. Do you guys think it would even be worth a try to shoot them out of it?

I'm willing to bet that you will get them to come out of the muzzle. ;) What are you hoping to achieve with them? 1000 yds, etc.

I shoot tatical matches out to 1000 yards and the occasional further shot. I am use to shooting 175 SMKs and was wanting to try something different.

If you had a long enough freebore in your chamber i.e. FTR chamber and even got it to 2100fps, which seems possible even if you figure a high 50fps/in loss, you'd be just at the speed of sound at 1000 using a free ballistic calculator. Obviously faster is better. You'd have to play around with your Ballistic calculator to see if they would perform better than 175s, however. But it would be different.

I appreciate the response. I'll ask the guy that chambered it. He should be able to tell me. He's a bench rest shooter.

Trying to shoot to 1000 yards with consistent accuracy with short barrels is an exercise in frustration.

The high BC of the heavy bullets really starts to pay off at long range, at 600 yards and in you can probably get better velocity and performance from 155s. Even in the long barrels there isn't much difference (other than recoil) from the heavies, which is why I shoot a 223 and 90VLDs at mid range.

You would be better off for your tactical stuff to look at 155s and get them up as fast as you can, which is a whole lot faster. They will shoot flatter so your ranging errors are less important, less recoil so you can have a chance to see impacts for misses, and the difference in windage to 600 or 750 isn't that much.

Looks like it will work. :D Don't have alot of empty brass, so could only get a 5 shot group at 300 yds rather than my usual 7+ shot group beyond 100yds for load confirmations. Took one cold bore shot, then 5. Temp was 49oF this morning vs. 73oF when I tested at 100 yds. Either way, looks very, very promising...Great job Bryan and the crew at Berger. Perhaps you should have kept these under wraps until after Worlds....Drew

Just out of curiosity... what are you running for seating depth on those loads? Didn't see it noted on the various pics....

They are 0.016" off. 2.355" CBTO. I just guessed at this depth and have not even tried any other seating depths, much less done a full seating depth test (mostly because I saw that several others on this forum with experience with the "old" 200H were around 0.015 off). Not sure I even would mess with it, as this is already pushing the limit of my ability to shoot small and tweeking seating depth for this one in this rifle will not make it shoot any better in my hands. Don't get much better than that Drew, it's a hammer. What barrel length you running?

32", You contributed to this load, by the way. You were among a few who commented on their 200H seating depth in their pet loads...take a bow;). Too bad I will not see you at Nats. I enjoyed our short, but fun, conversation in AZ. Drew
