New Berger .224 Bullet

Bought 2 boxes yesterday. :)
I bought three as soon as I got the notification from Midsouth. Hope they will shoot well in my new, yet unfired, 6.5 twist 223.
Midsouth, BTW, is my favorite online seller. Great service, fast shipping and (more importantly) knowledgable and friendly people.

Some of the best prices too. Pretty much always beats Midway USA (I like their one-stop-shopping variety) .

I'm waiting on a 1:7 224 Valkyrie bolt gun bbld action from Bugholes (Southern Precision) Got a XLR chassis waiting on it. I'm told this will shoot the "heavies" well. We shall see. :) My big concern is how long I'll be able to load these / distance to lands. I'm hoping for at least 2750-2800 fps.

Your 223 a bolt gun?

Yes, mine is a bolt gun. It was a 223 Ackley with 8 twist but, as I shoot some long range matches with .223, I needed another.
The 224 Valkyrie is a good choice and I understand a lot of the PRS shooters use it now.
As for your concern I would think, as with all Hybrids, they will actually like off the lands better anyway.

These went out yesterday; the remainder of those that you guys ordered should go out next week!

Have a few boxes coming as well. Planning to push them as hard as possible in a 6.5 twist short barreled 22 Creed. Fingers crossed

Hmm... wonder which bullets besides this one will get the new process? Sounds like Berger is pointing the bullets now.

Utilizing advanced and proprietary manufacturing processes, our new innovative Meplat Reduction Technology™ (MRT™) System applies controlled pressure along the projectile nose, producing a homogeneous and repeatable bullet profile for the industry’s most consistent Ballistic Coefficients (“BC”).

Benefits of the capitalist system and competition. Sierra has stolen a bit of a march with its new model MatchKings and their factory pointing (as well as TMKs and Hornady's ELDs with 'plastic' tips), so Berger moves forward in the same direction. I also noticed that little bit tucked away in the press release - hate the gobbledygook 'MRTS' label but welcome the improvement.

I'm pleased to see all these AS Forum members buying them (85.5s) and starting testing this weekend too in some cases. By the time they reach our shores many moons from now, how well they work, whether they stay in one piece with 1:7 and faster twist barrels, loads for everything from 223 Rem to 22-338 Lapua Magnum will be nicely sorted for us Brits. Carry on Chaps as David Niven used to say as the archetypal British Army officer in old B/W WW2 films. :)

Can you keep us posted on how it goes please? I have a 30” 6.5 twist barrel I’m afraid to chamber because of blow ups. Hoping these hold together!

For sure!
Should have some data in a couple weeks.

FWIW: I was told to keep the barrel under 26” and not push them “too hard”. Well, barrel is 23.5” and planning to drive them to 3200 +\-.
