new barrels

Jim and Sally Bauer shot Douglas barrels at the 1000 yard nationals this year and they seem to do okay...
I should of said short range. In the 4 seasons that I've been shooting, I've never heard or seen anyone with a Douglas barrel on a SR bench rifle.

I shoot primarly long range at 600 an 1000 I shoot douglas 6mm an a 30cal with the high BC bullets I fair pretty well at it .

The thing is George, I have never seen anybody use a Douglas barrel in a benchrest match. They are not bad if your replacing a factory hunting barrel with one, but that's it.

Jim, Tony B. and Smiley H. used them...... Smileys silver is hanging down there.......... jim

Ya maybe Boyer used them decades ago. But Dwight Scott who does some of my gunsmithing told me that Boyer used Shilen's for a long time, then Kriegers, now Bartleins. When is the last time you've seen a Douglas barrel on the equipment list in SR bench?

Don't believe the match reports, they are too factual...... jim

Well I'll tell you what. I just got off the phone with Dwight Scott. He told me that he hasn't put a Douglas barrel on a benchrest gun in about 20 years when he was at his old place. He said that he chambered Tony Boyer one over 20 years years ago that shot lights out, but that was it. I just texted Jim Borden and I'll bet my life he is going to say the same thing. Dwight said that Douglas really didn't want to be into the benchrest game anymore years ago that's why their barrels are not geared to the benchrest crowd. Got off the phone with Mike Ezell from KY and the last one that he said that he chambered for a customer was about 10 years ago.

What is your point....... Tony and Smiley both used them. long range they also excel....... Funny that is where Hart went to learned to make barrels........ jim

I would guess you are asking the wrong people. At least 3 shooters of the year used them recently. Before you beat up Douglas, you need to get a little better information. I've had barrels from the big name companies that looked like a failed high school shop project, and shot the same. You get a good one, doesn't have anything to do with the name on it....... jim

Jim. I'm not doubting you for the long range game. I don't know what barrels that they are using. I'm just talking about the guy's that shoot against in SR score. Dwight and Ezell both chamber a lot of barrels for SR group and score.

Jim, you seem to think that a barrel that is used in 1000 yds. is not as good or as accurate as short range score barrel? So if you think long range br. is inferior maybe you best try it first...... jim

I've had more success with Brux barrels than anything else. Not saying they are better than anyone else's, just sayin......

Look Jim. Borden texted me and said that he hasn't used a Douglas barrel since 1989, but he said that they are starting to use them in the 1000 yard game. Dwight, Mike and Sid told me that they haven't chambered one for a customer in a bunch of years. Since you know more then those 4 Gunsmith's and you probably have built hundreds of SR benchrest rifles with Douglas Barrels, I'm not going to have a pissing contest with you because according to someone that we both know, your always right. End of story.

Rick. Your not the only one. Dean, Hillary and Jim Cline all used Brux barrels last year and we both know how well each of them did with theirs.

Yes I am George. I started shooting in IBS score matches in 2013.
well keep up the score program its a bunch of nice people I know a lot of the shooters in that game if I had a score rifle an a place close to me I would shoot a douglas 17 twist that is all I have ever shot in the long range discipline.PS I would shoot a 17 twist for the score program.
