new barrels

is there any current trends to who is making the best 13.5-14 twist 6mm barrels,,I know they all make good barrels but if you could only afford one right now would you get another Krieger or try a Brux or Bartlien and I see Shilen and Hart still making barrels,,I am thinking about trying a Brux this time,,I have an 8 twist 6 BR-DX Brux with the fat Speedy taper that shoots very well but havent shot a slow twist Brux,,

Not specific to your question, but Lilja makes a great 3 groove 12 twist. It will bughole the 80 gr Berger

Bottom line. In IBS short range, both score and group, Krieger is still the barrel of choice.

It's different from region to region.
But the last few years it's pretty well split between Krieger and Bartlien in short range group anyway.
99.9% cut rifled is the thing to take away
Check the IBS website for the Nationals equipment list last few years

I really cant say as far as barrel makers but there is a lot of good ones out there I don't shoot short range but I have had good luck out of my 8 twist 4groove douglas barrel it has been pretty good.

The guy doing the chambering has more of an influence on how a barrel shoots than most would ever believe. The question of the OP would indicate an assumption that all gunsmiths indicate in a barrel to the same degree...ain't so!

If a fired case has perfect to near perfect concentricity of the neck would that be sign that the chamber was cut correctly?

The thing is George, I have never seen anybody use a Douglas barrel in a benchrest match. They are not bad if your replacing a factory hunting barrel with one, but that's it.
