New Ammunition Plant

Not much love there, is it?, timeout
Thanks for the information. They obviously believe that they will have no problems getting the components they need

Jagemann's makes brass in the neighborhood. Have wonder where they will get their primers and powder. I believe this was in the planning before the election and the virus. Hope the make quality stuff and have a long successful history.

I was talking to one of the support techs at Sierra last week, and he confirmed what I’ve been told by someone else is that some of the chemicals needed to make primers is mined overseas, and the ammo and loading components shortages in the U.S. have created commercial ammo shortages world wide. Also here in the U.S. it’s Federal, Winchester, and CCI are the only producers of primers. No info if the Remington brand has been put back into operation.

That’s interesting, on Vista’s last earnings conference call there was no mention of ammo or components shortages at all. In addition, in their 10K filed a month or so ago not one peep about shortages which they would be legally obligated to disclose. They did disclose, however, record earnings fueled in large part by increased volumes of ammo and components sales!!

Several weeks ago I was talking to a Federal tech support guy and got him talking about the recent acquisition of Remington ammo. I asked him when I was going to see any new production Remington primers available. He said that Remington was having serious issues with their primer manufacturing and that Federal is sending all of their excess primer production to the Remington ammo plant to support ammo assembly.

I suspect we will continue seeing primer supply issues until Remington gets their process straightened out. To me, my first clue regarding Remington primer production coming back up to speed will be the appearance of Federal primers in the marketplace....

.

I see wholesale type places like Target Sports are selling loaded rifle ammo for over $2 around for calibers like .243 Win. I don’t see hunters hoarding this at that price, and supply should catch up fairly fast.

Probably two weeks ago local store had Remington 7 1/2’s on the shelf. Was surprised to see them with Remington situation.
