new 7mm this winter?

Hi everyone, flexible. Well here is another question about which rifle and/or build to buy or have built.
Been doing only target shooting but my son-in-law, nephew-in-law are both suggesting I go on an elk hunt with them.
Looking at 7mm and am waiting to see what happens when the 7mm PRC comes out.
Looking at a light weight chasses rifle, seems like the Masterpiece Arms Ultra Lite Hunter or Carbon Fiber would be the best out of the box solution but the Carbon Fiber chassis weighs more than the Ultra Lite?????
Also thinking of a build using the KRG Bravo chassis.
I know the 7mm PRC will be in short supply (dies and brass too) but my other choice is the 7mm Rem SAUM which seems to be dying.
I will also be using for informal target shooting.
Any thoughts or suggestion?
thanks flexible

It's a good chunk of change but look at the new MDT carbon
fiber chassis.....I still build on variations of the 284 Winchester
but if going to a magnum type case, mine would be the 7mm
Sherman.

I just picked up my new Weatherby Mark V Weathermark LT in 7mm Weatherby, yesterday.
Been saving up a long time for this rifle!

Why not a nice standard 7mm Rem Mag?

I am thinking about a 7mm for hunting and am drifting for a 7mm-300 PRC, a little more capacity than the 7 PRC and great parent brass available in ADG 300 PRC.

Other options exist and probably as good or maybe better but this is the one that seems to scratch the current itch.

Thanks, the advice helps. The nephew-in-law i mentioned has a 7mm Mag and I'll ask to shoot a few rounds next time we're at the range.

28 Nosler

If wanting to build a new rifle in 7prc but wanting to build it now I would get all the components and build a 7 rem mag to hunt with for now and just use factory ammo to keep it easy and when the 7 prc comes out and you can buy quality brass for it I would just rebarrel it.

Just started thinking of something, I've been reloading rifle less than 2 years (pistol for decades) and with the short supplies on everything (ammo, brass, powder, primers, etc.) Am I correct in assuming that components for 7mm PRC (again, brass, DIES!!!, etc.) will be in short supply for a very long time?
Maybe better to stick with 7mm Rem Mag or Rem SAUM?????
thanks

If you're in the market for a low recoil round that brass is plentiful for look at the 7 TCU. I have a 14" pistol barrel (stock) that is amazingly accurate and I've thought often that a rifle in that cal. would be an excellent Deer gun. I have Redding dies for it and personally have done a few hundred cases for it out of used brass without any loss at all.
I shoot 120 grain Nosler solid base in them. I bought all that crap (along with some of the old Sako rings for what would be an unheard of price 40 years ago at a small gun show back when You used to be able to get a bargain.

Check out the new Weatherby 6.5 RPM cartridge. I am toying with the idea of opening it up to 7mm and giving it a shot. It is essentially an extended .284. Not too sure on reamer options on it yet. The brass is Weatherby branded Norma made. It’s a tad expensive at $150 or so per 50. Anyone done this yet?

If you want lightweight in a chassis MDT 26 Hunt is it, magnesium & carbon fiber at 26 oz. NOT cheap but really nice, go with a 7 SAUM, super easy to load for with a ton of different powders / bullets available for it. A very accurate round that is easy to tune. Brass is available from ADG or you can simply neck up 6.5 SAUM/GAP /4S brass that is readily available and works good. Probably one of the easiest rounds to load/tune.
