new 6.5x47 need some advice

No I wasn't able to crony, it broke a while ago and I haven't got it fixed.

I will try working up on the 4350. I haven't seen any pressure signs yet. The brass looks good and the bolt hasn't got sticky.

I am running 41.2 in my 6.5 of H4350 and my friend is running 41.5 grains. There is a node you should discover around that area. Usual disclaimers apply, these charges work in my rifle.

frank,
I will work up to it and see what I get. I'm headed back to the range on thursday, hopefully it won't be raining this time.

similar to 40X guy, i am running 41.7gr with 130gr JLKs at mag length, 8.5tw 26" krieger, 2915fps. Same load is also 1/3moa with 130 Bergers. My friend who has an almost identical 6.5x47, same reamer, but a hart barrel, also runs the exact same load as I.

There's definetely a node between 41-42gr of H4350 with a 130gr VLD, in pretty much every 6.5x47lapua i have heard of.

theoretically, everything else equal, a 8twist will shoot slower than a 9 twist... due to more resistance going down the bore.
If you want to shoot 140s, go 1-8 or 1-8.5, if heaviest will be a 130, 1-9 should be fine. 1-8.5 is the perfect medium IMO, that's why my rifle wears a 1-8.5tw krieger, and it shoots awesome :D

I loaded up some
40.7, 41, and 41.3 loads last night. I'll head up to the range on thursday and see what happens.

KT

sounds good, but i would definitely add 41.5 and 41.7gr to that... with a 130, assuming 26"ish barrel i'd expect around mid 2800s from those loads

I can load some of those up as well.

It's a 24'' barrel.

Well after getting the 6.5x47 finally, I can truly say that I'm very impressed with the round. It's very accurate and has little to no kick.

So with that being said I sent my old 700 pss off to the guys at accurate ordanance yesterday for them to give it a work over and make it a 6.5x47.

Went to the range today, and of course it was raining again.

I did get some work done though. It seems that 41g of 4350 is the magic number . I went all the way up to 41.8. Didn't show any pressure signs, but the groups for 41g was by far the best.

These are 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

KT, looks good with the 41 grains of H4350, what seating depth are you at? It appears you have found the optimum charge weight for your barrel length, and next i would try various seating depths, at lands, .005 off, .010 off, .015 off out to .025 off the lands. 3 shot groups, something will stand out.

I was running them right on the lands(0.00). I can try backing them off and running them in a touch and see what I get.

KT, I'm assuming that your still using the SMK 123's ?

RJ

Yep still running the smk 123's.

I have some Lapua's as well but I haven't tried any of those yet.
