new 22br need pointers

I just bought a used 22br and I a looking for general advice and pointers on the caliber, it is a carbon fiber rock barrel 26" 9 twist no turn neck on a savage 12. I have experience with a 6 dasher and a few ackleys but never a caliber that has to be sized down. i have read 22br page on the home page, i am just looking for possible happy loads for this twist and other possible reloading tips. also which sizing die I should buy rifle is coming with forester seater but no sizer.

thanks scott

scott: My 22BR is a .251" neck, so they do require outside neck turning, but to form the brass I'm using Lapua 6BR and running them into a standard one piece full length Forster sizer die. Tried doing it by using a .247" neck bushing but the mouth of the case must have caught on the bottom of the bushing and the $$$$ Lapua case was destroyed/crushed at the neck. They form down nicely using the "standard" sizer. For all loadings after the initial the bushing die is then used with either a .246" or .247" bushing. I do get some runout with the first loading, but they all straighten out after the first firing. My Shilen barrel is a 12 twist, and my accuracy load is 28.5 grs. of H322 with the Sierra 53 gr. MatchKing #1400, and Rem 7 1/2 primers are giving excellent results. When developing a load and increasing powder charges, do it slowly: I had pressure problems (very hard bolt lift & ugly primers) show up without any gradual warnings. One load was fine, and a three tenths increase was a sudden increase in pressure. So, I would suggest the Forster for initial forming/necking down, and the Redding Type S FL neck bushing die.

What Frank says. One pass with a Lapua 6 BR case in a full length 22 BR sizing die and you're done. Works the same with Norma brass.
And like Frank says, watch your loads. The pressure comes up "real fast". Other than that, load them up and go shoot something. Shoulder bump, neck size and and a pass through a body die once in a while if your cases start getting snug in the chamber and your brass will last a long time. ;)
