22BR twist rates

Hey,

Im thinking of having a 22br put together but need advice and guidance from some 22BR aficionados.

Is it possible to run 55's, 69's and 75/80's using the same barrel twist ie 1 in 8 for example provided that the 55's arent pushed to warp velocites or will these just fly apart on leaving the muzzle?

Also is it possible have the rifle throated to successfully shoot the above without compromising velocity/ accuracy?

Thanks in advance!

I ran 75 Hrndy's and 52 Tuckers through the same 9 twist barrel and it worked out fine. I'd bet an 8 would work well too.

I shot 80 Noslers in a 1-9 out to 1000y with great accuracy...but the bulletholes were not all round at 1K...but the 10 shot group was <1.25'

I am running 75 AMax and 80 SMKs out of an 8 twist Lilja with no problems at all.

I have also used 40 and 55 ballistic tips. No blow-up and the accuracy was fine.

Spook & Hoser I'm only assuming that the 75/80 grainers were jammed, how much jump was there with the 55/52/40 gr bullets and what were the velocities with these loads? This may make me re-thank the twist rate on my next 22BR barrel.

Thanks
RJ

I just shot some cheek 63gr bullets in my 12 twist with excellent results. .2' was the norm. Lee
