Need Tips for DIY major altering of a chamber reamer

Ive got a 308 win reamer that is not cutting the body well and is not re-sharpenable. What is the likely hood that i could grind or otherwise remove enough stock to turn it into a useable neck/throat reamer?
I am concerned about warping it or otherwise rendering it (more)useless.

Thinking of this as a rainy day project?

You could also send it in, and have a rougher made out of it.
