Need some data on 77GR RDF 223rem

Keep it up, man. I'm definitely following with interest!
I am also eagerly awaiting Eric's results. I have had an interested eye on the 77 RDFs since they came out. Any chance you could move testing the 77s up two slots in the queue, Eric? ;)

For you @Ned Ludd i will take it into consideration for sure, i am just waiting to sell some more stuff, in an effort to keep the reloading room from becoming chaos.

So midsouthshootersupply has some in stock, ill pick up a box of 100 and load them up when i get the rifle back from the smiths.

Anyone know where i can find lapua 223rem brass now or is that a pipe dream?

So update for those that care

My barrelled action is at the smiths to get the stock barrel removed. And new med Palma 7 twist 26inch barrel installed with a Zermatt 12 point barrel nut.

Tuned the dillion powder thrower to work some some left over AA4064 that left over for fireforming/break in loads(i am just gonna shoot it a bunch then clean it later) ill be running my TBAC 30PSS until my AAC SDN 6 gets convert to work with the Q cherry bomb.

Then after that i have some 75gr amax that i am gonna those up then i load up 77gr Noslers for my matches.

Also keeping tagged for interest.

Did you see the AA4064 recall last November? Your lot may be unaffected, so be Safe!

I most certianly did not, holy shit what whas the problem?

The stuff i have is XMR4064 by accurate

I am gonna be using a 7 twist.

A 9 twist is gonna give you pretty low stability around a 1.1 give or take it also depends on altitude your shooting at

7 twist on everything. Palma rifle (30" barrel), 2 XTC service rifles (20" barrels) and a scoped match AR 26"barrel rifle. I haven't shot any bullet lighter than a 77g since I ran out of 69's 10 years ago.

Update

Picking up the BA from the smith this afternoon.

Gonna load up some break in barrel loads and oick up the noslers this week. Ill be posting up pictures today of the rifle

Bolted and torqued down she is a PRS queen, the suppressor is temporary until my SDN6 gets converted for a Q cherry bomb20201012_144932_resized_1(2).jpg

RDF arrived, however i was super upset with wheeler wrench arrived in the most piss poor condition ever.

Yes, certain lot numbers of this powder have a recall notice.

Chemical stability being the issue.

Your lot may be fine, but worth a check. Are you seating the 77rdf long; or going for 2.260"?

try imr 8208 xbr or Alliant reloaded 15 i had amazing results with both powders that all i use try rem 7.5 br primers lapua brass or if you don't mind a bunch of work clean up LC once fired brass..i used nosler CC 69 gr. And 77 gr 24" truck axel of a barrel
7 twist..300 yards clover leaf 10 shot groups 3/4"
Was the best I could do with my shooting skill..that was an 223 AI I didn't see any increase in speed just accuracy..my primer pockets would lose up before case cracks..i do aneal
Good luck

I took a .223 Rem F-TR "practice" rifle I had built several years ago out the other day for the first time in a long while. I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed shooting this rifle. It is set up in a way that should be almost perfect for the 77 RDFs, so I broke down and ordered 500. I just received notice they have been shipped, so I will add my results to Eric's here once I have the opportunity to do some testing.

So work and the holidays have kept me from the range. Anyone have any more info to add?

Hit the range to fine tune with Nosler brass and the 77gr RDF. Ended up with 23.5gr of 8208XBR at .030 off the lands (1.900 OGIVE).
