Shooting when I can
Silver $$ Contributor
Hey guys,

Need some help on a 77gr RDFs, want to know of anyone is running them?

Do they like big jumps like .050 area?

What is the real world G7 BC?

I run them... and yes, they tolerate bigger jumps nicely. They do pretty well jammed too, but I don't like running them into the lands so I kept backing off until the groups got tight again. The COAL I'm running is 2.355 to 2.360 measured across 5 of my rounds. I shoot them in Wylde chamber for my service rifle in across the course matches in the 600 yard stage.

Disclaimer: I shoot for Nosler. The 77gr RDF is just like their 115gr RDF, very accurate and consistent. Those are my two favorite from the RDF line up.

I recently tested them from a 22” .223 Wylde bolt gun out to 400 yds running the Applied Ballistic number of .223 G7, although I have friends using the published BC of .230. The data for me was spot on, but that’s only 400 yds. I am going out on Wednesday to a brand new range near my house, and hope I can take them to 1K yds at least so I will report back if I have the opportunity.

Also, I am only jumping .010 from the lands and was getting .2-.3 MOA groups at 100 yds. I have not adjusted seating depth on them yet. My Labradar on doppler mode (I am running suppressed) was 2893 fps.

I replied at the same time, you made your post. But both of your guys post are very helpful thanks

Sweet you guys are basicaly in the same area, ill get some 23.0 to 23.5 loads done up and see where the new barrel likes to be.

Yeah, I think my ogive is 1.900 if I remember correctly or at least it was for the barrel that was last on my rifle. I had a bunch loaded so I tested them in the new barrel and they shot fine so I haven't bothered to rework them up. Obviously, everyone's barrel is different so measure yours up with the bullet in question and see how they shoot. I don't think you can go wrong anywhere from 23.0 to 23.5 grains, but I know lots of guys that shoot 77's with 23.2 and 80's with 23.4. I would say pick one, then simply do your work ups to figure out which OAL your barrel likes.

Yea i am gonna go with imr 8208xbr 23.5 and jump it .020 and work backwards

Been using them since they came out shooting at 300yd XTC rapid fire. LC brass, CCI 450, mag length and 26.6g 2000MR. They absolutely hammer in my service rifle 7 twist barrel. I use the 85g RDF at 600yds service rifle, 26g 2000MR 30k off the lands. In a bolt gun I'm using the 77's (because I have a bunch) at 600 yds prone, sling 27g 2000MR, 50 thousands off the lands. 30 inch barrel, 7 twist getting 1900 FPS at the target, approx 2960 at the muzzle.

It seems the RDF like the .050 jump. I plan on starting there for jump and 23 gr of 8208xbr. But i would like to see 2900 from my 26inch barrel and my SDN6 supressor

I don’t see why not. I am close to 2900 with a 22” barrel. I also really need to test seating depth soon.

Yea i missed that you had a 22" that 26" should quick then, am so excited to get this gun going.

Took the Nosler 77gr RDF out to 992 yds today using the Applied Ballistics G7 BC of .223 and it appeared to be spot on.
My transonic range is 1070 yds btw.

So update for those that care

My barrelled action is at the smiths to get the stock barrel removed. And new med Palma 7 twist 26inch barrel installed with a Zermatt 12 point barrel nut.

Tuned the dillion powder thrower to work some some left over AA4064 that left over for fireforming/break in loads(i am just gonna shoot it a bunch then clean it later) ill be running my TBAC 30PSS until my AAC SDN 6 gets convert to work with the Q cherry bomb.

Then after that i have some 75gr amax that i am gonna those up then i load up 77gr Noslers for my matches.
