need opinions on BRUX barrels?

Hello guys,

Ive heard a little bit about these barrels here and there, there a cut rifled style barrel and the pricing is good as is the wait time. Im wanting a 7mm 9 twist, and was considering trying one of there barrels.

Has aonyone had any expirience with these Brux barrels? Id like to know before buying one.

Thanks again,

Jerid

I just realized, i ment to post this in the big stuff section. Any opinions are welcome though..

I bought a used 7mm Brux for a fireforming barrel for my 7saum AI and it surprised me to the point I ordered a 6mm from them, I expect it in a few weeks...
It was easy to thread and chamber, and shot really good for what I wanted it for.
With only 2 people working there it's not going to get lost in a crack, and speaking with them on the phone also sold me on them....

I have 3 of their barrels and they all shoot great. The price is good and a short wait to get them.

I just had one chambered in a 6brx and so far it is shooting very well. I had it in 5 weeks and would buy another.

Another pleased owner, mine is a 22-243 1-8 twist 28', shoots and cleans right with my other cut rifled barrels.

Great thats what i wanted to hear.. I think Ill go ahead and pull the trigger on ordering one..

Preacher, Im interested in your 7mm SAUM AI, Im looking at building the 7mm SAUM too. what do you think about the AI version? What bullets are you shooting and what kind of velocity are you getting? Also, what dies are you using?

And you wouldnt happen to have a pic of that case would you?

Thanks again everyone

I just got it together and so far only forming cases for it, should have it on the bench by the end of the week, and I'll post the results..
Here is a photo of a prepped case ready to fire and one fresh out of the chamber.
It has a .316 neck, and a 35 degree shoulder, and is set for the 162 A-max, but I plan on ground hogging with the 120 Ballistic Tips......
It has a 30 inch Bartlein @ 1.350 and getting a lot of Blue patches out of it with only the 3rd round fired. It will get better after a few more shots....

I really like my Brux on my 6BR so far...still breaking it in...but between shooting and cleaning still manged a few very small clusters at 100 which included foulers! I also have a 32' 6mm in 1-8.4' for an upcoming 6 dasher project...Wished I could buy two more 30' 1-8' 6mm's to put back...

Their wait time continues to increase and once people realize how good they really are it will be even longer before the package shows up at your door!

My gunsmith duplicated Preachers comments- It cuts really nice like its been cryo'ed was his comment!

Jerid,
I don't shoot a Brux but I have seen enough of them shoot at matches to know that they are one of the top barrel makers.

I shoot a standard 30º shoulder 7mm RSAUM throated for 162Amaxes .318 no turn neck with Nosler brass. I am running the Amaxes at 3120 fps out of a 30' Bartlein 5r barrel using H-1000 powder. I have also shot 180 Bergers out of a 28' Lawton 6 groove barrel at 3000 fps. Personally I don't think the case needs improving.
The Bartlein has over 1400 rounds on it and still shoots good.
I use RCBS Gold Medal FL bushing die to size and RCBS Gold Medal seating die.

Again, thanks for all the replys.

Im pretty sure first of next week im going to go ahead and order one. I wish i could swing for another one to put on my Savage 12 f-class.

As far as the 7mm RSAUM, Im just going to shoot the standard chambering, and hopefully it will like one of the 168 or 180 bullets fairly well.

One more question. Im planning on bulding this off of a Win M70 mag short action that will be pillar bedded in a manners stock. Anyone see any problem using that action with a 28' barrel and a muzzle brake? I cant think of any problems, but want to make sure before i start spending money..
