NEED Berger 90gr VLD’s

I am almost out of my Berger .22 cal 90gr VLD’s. With shooting season coming up I really need to find these bullets. If any of you would sell or negotiate a trade I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Josh, in your shoes I would consider trying out the Hornady 88 ELDMs:

They are fairly similar in terms of BC, reloading specs (i.e. freebore/seating depth), attainable velocity, etc., to the 90 VLDs. The one caveat is that I wouldn't recommend pushing them "hard" in a barrel longer than 30" or with a twist rate faster than 1 in 7", unless you are using a 0.219" bore barrel. The reason for this is that I have caused jacket failures with both the 90 VLDs and 88 ELDMs out of a 30", 0.218" bore barrel when I pushed them fairly hard. If you are not planning on running the upper node (around 2840-2850 fps with H4895 from a 30" barrel), they should be fine. In my hands, the 88 has a slight edge in BC, and will likely tune in at around 20-30 fps faster than the 90 VLDs with the same powder. The 88s have a longer BTO dimension and will seat deeper in the case than the 90 VLDs, but not so far as to cause any major issues (i.e. effective case volume will be smaller with the 88s in a rifle of given freebore). Both are capable of very good precision.

The other commonly-used alternatives to the 90 VLDs are Sierra's 90 and 95 gr Matchkings. Both are excellent designs, but they may be even more difficult to find than 90 VLDs until sometime well into the 2022 season.

I certainly wish you luck in finding someone that has some 90 VLDs they are willing to part with. But if not, I think you might find the 88s a very reasonable and less expensive alternative to tide you over until the 90 VLDs become available again.

If all else fails...RMR 90 gr Sierra matchkings
Also a very good alternative. I looked at the usual places before replying and didn't find any 90 SMKs available.

A friend of mine contacted Berger early Dec, and the forecast was to make a run of 90's early this year. I remain optimistic.
