Need advice on fast twist 6BR's

I got 4 6BR's all long range set-ups and all barrels are
8 twists.. None seem to shoot 87 vmax's or anyother
light varmint bullet very well. They will shoot 1/2 MOA but
I would like better, guess I'm spoiled w/ 1/4MOA or
less w/ heavy bullets==
Is this twist just too many rpm's or what..??
All rifles shoot 105-108 into bugholes but I want to use a
couple of them, light wt. varmint bullets)
for PDin' long range w/ the blowup
of a varmint bullet.. Is there such a thing as over
stabilization?? nothing under 95 shoot good except
80gr Fowlers and they don't expand well on PDs. Any
comments appreciated..
thanks
Doc Stone
PS- none have tuners, so that's not it!!!!![g]

For P-Dog'n I use the Hornady 105gr A-Max for my 1:8 twist. It has the expanding/explosive effect your looking for. I use the 87gr v-max exclusively for my 1:10 twist barrel. I find the red tips do some nice damage to those hogs. Have fun, be safe and get some P-Dogs. :)

In my 8-twist 6BR, I had so-so accuracy with Hornady V-Max 87s and 75s.

Then I tried some Berger 80s, and the gun bugholed, with a couple groups in the high 'teens",.18", .17").

That made me wonder what was the problem with the Hornadys. I started measuring the bullets.

They were NOT very consistent in base to ogive length, and the 75s even showed quite a lot of variance,up to .0007") in diameter.

Try some Bergers and report back.

Lynn ur rite....I think the reason that my bbls. shoot the big un's and the lil' uns,so well, is the fact that I am using premium bullets,botique-as I call em) in the 62-68gr class and of cours good uns 105-107!!! The only bullets that dont shoot "B"enchrest quality groups are the oddball 75-90 hardware store bullets...,,oooo yea, once in a while you will get a good group...but not good enuf for an event...plenty good to kill vermin))...which seem to have a whole lot-0-shakin goin on between the muzzle and the target....Roger
