Need advice on a front rest

the other side of the coin
Gary Ocock shoots a very basic three leg rest with
NO bells and whistles.( Sinclair maybe)
and he has a ton of records and wins

I think the knob twisters are getting the worst of this!

On the sinclair competition the windage and elevation are right there at the nearest point. I extend my arm a bit but by no means out of shooting position. Since I never go past where I want to be like I do with a stick I'm actually faster.

what is a stick in your comment ?
a joystick is a single point of left right up down...not 2 points as in the Sinclair and others.
how can 2 adjustments be faster than a single joy stick ?

At one time Tony Boyer, Charlie Huckeba, and Gary Ocock were bag squeezers. Joysticks weren’t an option. Tony has gone the way of Ode To Joy. I don’t know about Charlie and Gary as I see them seldom.
Bag squeezing is the most simple of methods. You just need a solid front rest and a softer bag with light sand. set up with the crosshair in line or close to in line with the target and with the crosshair a little high. Squeeze the bag to lower the crosshair and ease up to raise the crosshair. You can adjust for switches in wind on the fly. No knob to tweedle.
A typical bag squeezer set up sans rifle. In an ideal set up, you can feel the sand settle as the guy next door shoots and when you shoot. A short range BR match is seven minutes duration. When discussing match times with Dwight Scott years ago, I said you have seven minutes to shoot your match. He corrected me and said “You have seven minutes in which to decide which 10 seconds you have to shoot”. Dwight was a runner and in time I became a runner. I’ll run a score target in ten seconds when the time is right and remember that a score target has five bulls plus the sighter target to maneuver around. Oh, I have to ejector on my action. I shoot, open the action, throw a live round in, flip out the spent case, close the bolt and then look at where my last shot went. Waste no time. Wind switches and variance will cost you a lot if you can’t shoot five in the same condition. A guy was watching a match at East Tawas and after the matches were over, a match I won, he told me he timed me and from commence fire to when I shot my last was never more than 45 seconds and remember that includes sighters and foulers. And, I’m no where close to the fastest runner. Lowell Hottenstein would be wiping his cases as I finish. So would Dwight Scott.

No doubt the joystick is theoretically faster.
Some of us have issues getting the stick where we want it so the knobs end up being practically faster.
It's not like the knobs are actually slow.

I shoot F/Class .
I got a New SEB Mini , Wonderful on the Ground and for Matches.
Took it to the Range to do load testing ??? it is large hard to fit on Bench .

I have a Caldwell BR up-dated with a 3" front Bad. I think it is great for Bench Work ?
Midway has them on Sale ??
Grizzly Has a close out Sale ??

Good Luck
Glad to hear that, had back surgery a couple of years ago and bought a mini cause I wasn't supposed to pick up anything over a few lbs. Could not get that thing to work on the bench with the bags I was using with my neo, and I have a lot of extra bags. Tried it several times and decided I was just too dumb to make it work. Sold it and went back to my neo...

Certainly a minority.
I have heard others say they can't stand a joystick.
I only bring it up because OP might end up being one of us.

I shoot a lot of multiple bull smallbore f-class and I don't feel the sinclair holds me up.
