NEED ADVICE; 243win, 6mmbr, 6brx, want 2900fps with a 105gr and good barrel life

I currently own a rem sps varmint in 243win and after I shoot it out I plan to get a 1in8 shilen match probably in CM and a 26" finished length.
I plan to shot the new nosler custom competition 105gr and I would really like to hit 3000fps but 2900fps will meet my needs. I really like the dasher and brx but dont want to form a false shoulder like with the dasher, so I am leaning towards the brx.
I know that after a few shootings brass will start to stick in the chamber and need full length sized, can this be done to the brx with standard 6mmbr dies?
Can the 6mmbr be pushed into the 2900fps range if loaded hot and what would that do to brass life?
Lastly what is the best way to find an accurate lod with the 6mm's I currently load 5 sets of 5 rounds with the same powder load, first set is .030 off lands, then .020, then .010, then touching then .010 jammed, once I find the best seating depth I then mess with powder charges.
I am open to a better faster way to find accurate loads, so please share your knowledge with me..

I am greatly appreciative for any help please feel free to drop me a message, I would really like to find someone to "take me under their wing" and help me out..

Again thank you all in advance for your help and time..

dont just settle on one bullet manuf. there are a lot of good 6mm bullet manuf. out there. if you want to skip the trouble of forming a dasher, try the 6BR-DX. check out the improved section on this sight. just load a 6BR into a DX chamber and shoot--i think this round is closer to a true ackley then any of the other "improved" 6BR types. send your receiver off to spencer rifle barrels and they can chamber a barrel in the 6BR-DX. i would go with an 8 twist, .236 bore with about .100-.110 freebore.

Yes, a BR can be pushed to 2900fps, but you brass life will suffer greatly, and you'll be running high pressure that could, in some actions, exceed safe limits....Long of the short, if you want these velocities, go with an "improved version"....

As far as the improved versions - I don't know anythign about the DX, but I do know alot about the Dasher. PLEASE, don't let fireforming the brass and making a falseshoulder worry you...It's very easy, just takes an extra step...If you'll looking at all the current IBS records, you find that the Dasher holds most of them....with its 40 Degree shoulder, you'll also find that the cases are super stable, and never experience the "growth" that a case with 30 degree shoulders sometimes does, when shot with a hot load...the BRX is also a great round that holds many records as well, jsut minus the 40 shoulder.....

You'll find that just about ANY version of the 6BR is very easy to load for and shoot well...

Good Luck!

26" will not get you 2900-3000 with 6BR but 30" will. 6BR will give you the best barrel life. My Lapua 6BR brass, annealed every three firings, gives between 20 and 25 firings before primer pockets loosen.

As Cmillard noted, try the gamut of popular 6mm bullets in the 105-108 range, there are several. Sierra 107, Hornady A-MAx 105, Berger 105 & 108; one of them should shoot well.

if you look under the 6BR improved page on this sight, you will see that David Stripling shot a 1.071" @600yd group with the 6 BR-DX. He is pushing 95 Bergers at 3200 fps and that is with a 25", 10" twist Krieger. Imagine what you would get for velocity with an extra 3-4 inches and shooting some heavier bullets. i will be chambering one of my rifles in this round.

omahaguy,

I have many 6BR you will be hard pressed to get 2900 f/s from a 6BR. I punched a a 6BR barrel that would only get 2820 f/s, and got 3000 f/s with no problem, but accuracy was at 2975.
I have shot 3 IBS 600 yds records shooting a 6 BRX. I size every firing by first FL with a 308 f/l die, That gets to base, then bump the shoulder and neck with a Redding S f/l die.

I fireform by holding a bullet tight and Jam 0.040" accuracy is great.

As far as load development. I load at the range. I start with the bullet jamed 0.020" into lands. I start by firing 3 shot groups at 100 yds, change only the powder charge. When I find the best group. I will play the seating depth with the best charge. then if needed I will change the grip on the bullet. All load development I am looking for low vertical in the group and low ES in speed. When i get the best group, I move to 200 yds , and fine tune with 5 shot groups.

cmillard,
I am not sure about David's 95 Vld load, but he shot the 1.071" record shooting 88 gr Berger with the 6BR-DX 10 tw.
