Need a new powder dispenser. Help me out.

My charge master did the same thing, RCBS would not repair, I bought a bald eagle electronic scale from bullets.com for $80. I set my BR30 powder thrower a few tenths under and trickle up to weight. The scale will register a single kernel of powder. Using this method I am as fast as the charge master was.

Sounds like my last HP printer that lasted for about 7 years. Finally some internal plastic parts cracked and it was useless.

Have you contacted RCBS regarding warranty/repair?

So my RCBS Chargemaster finally pooped out on me. I've had it for several years and have loaded some accurate Ammo using it. It started making all kinds of weird noises, Wild speed fluctuations, and started throwing lots of undercharges. At the end it would not throw the entered charge.

So I know Lyman makes one, Hornady makes one, and of course I could get another Chargemaster. Is there anything else I'm overlooking? Which one would you recommend and what has your experience been?

Here is a less expensive way back to where you were. https://www.natchezss.com/rcbs-chargemaster-powder-dispenser.html
That is assuming your scale still works.

I have sent bucks on the scale Quist :(
The Deal on the 123 and Trickler is #1 ..

But if you are not a Big Time Shooter .
Scrap the ChargerNastee ! Amen.
A Good Old Ohus Beam scale is Great .

I have a A&D 123 and Auto Trickler .
I double check with a RCBS 5-10 .
The Electric scales can be driven crazy by other electic items in the area .
Best of Luck,
Shop wise spend once :)

More than likely u can contact RCBS and probably end up with a new one for no charge. Their customer service is just that good.

Duke-

If you carefully trickle by hand with a good beam scale, you will get to the same place in probably less time than a Charge Master or similar. As to the Canadian scale and auto trickler, go for it if you have the discretionary funds for it.

Chargemaster Lite

Just as good as the 1500combo but smaller footprint.

If Chargemaster decides to take a dump I'll get the CM Lite for sure.

I have a Lyman Gen I you can have for the postage. Works well enough, just too slow for my liking & a PITA when it comes time to change propellants.

I bought a Lyman DPS 3 when they first changed from DPS2. My only complaint about it is that there is a 45 minute warm-up time. Once I get past the warm-up time I could not be happier with the Lyman unit

Just ordered the FX120i and auto trickler. Will be selling one or two of my chargemasters. Should cut my time in half charging cases. Doing 200-300 at a time, it adds up. Chargemasters are accurate enough, my SD is generally 3-5. But the speed of the auto trickler is a big benefit.

swthomas; You are a VERY patient person in my opinion. Unless they have really speeded up how fast that RCBS unit throws a charge, you might really want to consider (though this is not the info you are asking for) buying a quality manual powder dispenser similar to a Harrel's Precision and get just the RCBS electronic scale. The Harrel's throws a pretty close charge which I throw in to a pan and quickly weigh on the scale, trickling as needed. Once you do this for a hundred cases or so - it is WAY faster and just as, if not more accurate - considering how often the auto unit overcharges, requiring manual removal of a bit of powder. Honestly, I can't imagine using the auto function unless I had two or three of those units. I really do like the scale though - more accurate than others I have tried.

There are several programs available to re-program an R C B S. The one i use gives me 20-22 grains very fast, 6 grains at a slower speed and the last grain on a trickle. It can drop 28.5 gains in 16-20 seconds

Good to know these can be re-calibrated. Even though, I'd say that is about 30% slower than dumping and trickling. When I reload, I am usually on a mission to get my ammo loaded, as I'm usually loading a lot of it at a time. I do realize though, there are folks that do it for relaxation.
