Need 222 Loaded Round Neck Diameter

After beginning a stock restoration job on my grandmothers 1958 Remington 722 in 222, I caught the "got to have another rifle" bug. I figured why not build a 222 based on a 26 or 28" Shilen varmint contour barrel so off I go.

If you guys don't mind, could someone get me a neck diameter of a Lapua case 222 with a Hornady 53 grain V-max or a 52 grain A-max? I don't have any 222 Lapua brass right now and wanted to get the barrel on order since the wait is 5 or 6 months. The chamber will also be a no turn chamber.

Thanks!

Shawn

Shawn,

Unless you`re getting a pre chambered barrel, just order a barrel of your favorite flavor.

Then get a hold of some brass and the bullets you want to use and load up a few dummy rounds and measure.

Then you will be able to spec. your reamer the way you want it.

Phil.

Thanks for the information..

I am so tied up with 260 and 6.5-284 that I figured I could get the specs for the 222 loaded round then place the barrel order without having to purchase 222 Lapua brass ;D

However, I did go ahead and order some brass and 53 grain Vmax's to measure.

Thanks for the information!

Shawn

.250 but you will need to check loaded rounds.
My lots of Lapua brass have a larger OD than Remington Nickle match or old federal nickel match.
Go with the Lapua.

Those 53's are great!I'm hoping you ordered a 12 twist though.I think the 53 V-Max will bring new life to .22 caliber rifles with its .295b.c.
as long as they have the needed 12 twist. My XP-100 loves 'em. :)
