222 Remington neck diameter

I just picked up a vintage 222 benchrest rifle that was built in the 70’s and owned by Dave Wolfe of Wolfe publishing, the A&M barrel is only marked 222 Remington, when I tried to load factory cases they would not chamber so I’m sure it’s a tight neck chamber even though it’s not marked, what was the most common ND for 222 rem back then so I can neck turn and see what will chamber or at least give me a starting point, any info is much appreciated,Thanks

You could def turn a few pcs to neck thickness of .008-.009"
then try that, if it doesnt chamber I'd be worried
Short of doing a chamber cast
I dont know if Id want to go thinner but .009" is a good thickness.
I seriously doubt the chamber neck would require you to turn any thinner than .009
-------------
Measure seated bullet OD
Fire
Measure fired neck od and makes sure it has expanded some amount to ensure you have clearance

Why not do a chamber cast with Cerrosafe? It's easy to do, and you only need to make a casting of the neck area.

I tried some that were necked to 247 and they dropped right in so probably it’s a 248 neck, thanks to all.
