Neck sizing or full length problems. Advice needed

A lot of difference between posting a "humorous gif" that's used as emoticon all over the internet, then your pirating someones tested result images, and rewording the result context to represent your own gas.... repeatedly

You are the only crybaby complaining and I have far, far more people thanking me for the information I post. Then its you who doesn't understand the terms "fair use" and "for educational purposes" in our copyright laws.

You also sent me a PM thinking you had images of value and out of the blue threatened me with legal action. So again Pound Sand and get over yourself.

GENTLEMEN! It strikes me that we have gotten completely away from the initial subject matter and are now dealing with issues of testosterone and who has the best one liner. So could we P L E A S E end the foolishness and get back to discussing reloading and attempt to practice some civility in responses. And consider keeping your PM wars words in PM's for the benefit of all the blog users. This blog was designed for an exchange of ideas whereby we can learn from one another and frankly I'm not seeing much educational value in whose got the bigger club. Thank you one and all.

And dmoran posted a link from "MY" photobucket account above without my permission and he has the nerve to talk about pirated images. You just never know what a anus orifice is going to do in a forum.

dmoran is your name bigedp51.............. ::)

On top of this the girl in the photo is CatShooters dream girlfriend and he posted the image and I tease him with it.

So lets get back on topic and talk about banana shaped cases and leaning case necks.

No bigedp51....... you posted the Link to your Photobucket account, when you pasted the URL link for everyone to see the picture of that young girl. I just highlighted where it came from.

And I didn't give you permission to post my link and that make you a pirating lowlife and a laughing stock of your own high moral values, and I hate to be redundant but again pound sand.

And you should ask F. Guffey if you can fly with him in his hot air balloon.

No bigedp51....... you gave EVERYBODY permission.
If your going to download and post pictures, images, GIFs, etc.. you should figure a few things out.

It's works like this:
You click on the this forum thread to view it, then look up at your URL bar and it will say this:
forum.accurateshooter.com/index.php?topic=3840627.00
Which takes you to topic=3840627.00 here on AccurateShooter

You click on YOUR image link that you placed in your thread to View, then look at your URL bar any it says:
i122.photobucket.com/albums/o254/bigedp51/shay_laren_jeans_zps39b1916a.gif
Which takes you to that picture in YOUR photobucket account, that you downloaded and shared the URL here to it for anyone to view and see. There for you gave everyone permission to that image in your account.
Where you downloaded it from is rather simple Image detail tracking, which returns “Shay Laren ,com". Just as in the image title in your account and URL link you provided.

Your forgetting one small little item..............

No one elected you to the position of image morality police, in fact your nothing more than a overactive ego that doesn't understand how images and drawings enhance the learning process.

And judging from the PMs I'm getting many people know you have very brown eyes and do not understand that what is in MY photobucket account belongs to me and NOT you.

Now grow up and get a life and understand this.........

There are 7 Billion people in the world and you have to share the planet with 6,999,999,999 other people.

Not that it is my thread, but might I make the observation that this has gotten just a little bit off topic? How about we call a truce and let this one die? Just a thought....

I will call a truce if you can find someone to buy the extra wooden stake projectiles dipped in silver nitrate that I made for this occasion. But I'm still cocked and locked and have plenty of garlic. ;)

P.S. The copyright patent ran out on my finely made French pistol long ago but it still has its educational purposes. (get my point)

Boyd, you mean a F/L sizing "die" correct? ;D

Ball diameters......

I've made 30 caliber ones from 31 caliber ones polished down to .3080" thru .3086" diameter for uniforming case mouth diameters on new or once fired cases without necks turned to uniform thickness. They hold bullets straight and uniform enough for excellent accuracy at long ranges. Fired cases were FL sized in dies whose necks were .002" less diameter than bullet dia. plus 2X wall thickness.

Necks stayed straight as the mouth diameter after necked down was a bit more than one thousandths under bullet diameter and the oversize expander ball uniformed the mouth diameter to a slightly larger one.

Seems this thread has gone off topic but I'd like to thank the folks that answered my original question. I've now re set my FL die and I've made some ammo to test this week. Also thanks for the PMs

I'd also like to thank the others, being new to this forum I now know who not to listen too.

When I first did some comparisons between full length and neck only sizing with .308 Win and .30-.338 Win Mag cases at longer ranges with 5- to 10-shot test groups, the smallest 5-shot ones were about the same size regardless of the die/method used. But the largest groups with fired cases resized with full length sizing dies were smaller than the largest ones resized with neck sized cases. Either die/method could produce tiny groups but neck sizing dies produced the largest ones.

First thing one needs to know is what external forces move the case around in the chamber when it's chambered then when fired. Then be aware of dimensions of each.

Bart B. How do you do that?
Cut the barrel off square with the chamber mouth then chamber loaded rounds and measure how they align repeatably relative to the chamber axis. One can measure how much the case gets pressed away from chamber center as it stops against the chamber wall from extractor force. Then watch a sized case center its mouth in the die's neck as you push the case all the way forward just like the firing pin does before the primer fires; or just slowly drop the firing pin and watch the case mouth center. You can also use a Wilson case gauge which is also has a "chamber" in its own rights and see how a case mouth centers in the die's neck area. With a 20X loupe, it's easy to see a .001" or less misalignment.

I would like to know your results, tisme, if you can post them.
cheers

Best results were full sized with the case set so the bolt closed easy (no resistance) 46.4 gr Varget 155.5 berger 2.909 oal. Might need a bit more fine tuning.

Try a little more neck tension, with a smaller bushing, in your Redding Type-S F/L die, and that group should tighten up nicely. Seating depth is another fine tuner in the triad.
