Nebraska State F-Class match 8/27/2016

Well deserved and good shooting as usual.

Thanks, Brad. Wish you could have been there, buddy. I'm sure you would have been right there in the thick of it with Drew, Damon, myself, and several others that were all running up at the top of the leader board.

Those are some bad @$$ trophies!!!

Thanks. Trying to find a suitable place to display them has become an issue. All the various state matches are giving out these awesome (and BIG) trophies nowadays. Definitely not complaining about my run of extraordinarily good luck in these recent matches, but the little medallions I used to get from time to time were much easier to find a home for (LOL). At a very fun local match we had at South Bay Rod and Gun Club in San Diego, the winners were awarded T-shirts with the club logo. These were highly coveted because you couldn't buy one, you had to win a match to get one. They were also good advertising for the club. They are particularly nice because when you're not displaying (wearing) them, they get folded up and put in a drawer ;).

Yeah nice shooting greg, definitely a good problem to have lol and would make a good accent to a man cave or something of the like.

Also my hat's off to the match directors having the trophies made (especially something one of a kind). I'm sure the shooters appreciate it. Not to mention the prize table... another hats off.

I'd also like to say I'm glad to see our sport promted this way. On top of giving some reward to the effort us shooters put into it, it helps bring us together and bring new people into the sport.

Thanks Joel.
I had to go back to what worked rather than trying to make something new perform. The final scores were about as tight as it can get, and I'm glad I saved an X for the last shot.
Saunaking... Take note of all that killer swag and then maybe Remdog won't have to travel to pick up such nice farkles.....:D

I'm already thinking about what next year will look like...hopefully we will be able to keep growing the sport in the midwest and get the good shooters from all the states to travel to the other matches. I will discuss the merits of the cement firing line with Chris tonight and see if he will need to put some of his finishing skills to work next spring...:D

but there were quite a few fast switches that caught some people napping.

Congrats to all the winners!

A little shout out to my wife for shooting her personal best in a 3x600 match. ;)

I was hoping that after Chris got to try covered cement at 600, he might weigh in on Elk River's plans....:D

It turned out to be a close match in F-TR, and F-Open was even closer. F-Open was actually won by "Creedmoor", as the top two shooters had the same exact numerical/X score. So F-Open was decided by head-to-head comparison of scores starting with the last shot and counting backwards. Randy Snook won F-Open overall by this tie-breaker system. Weather started off cool and cloudy, but warmed up nicely once the sun came out. The wind generally wasn't very strong, but there were quite a few fast switches that caught some people napping. The prize table was outstanding, really over the top. Prizes were awarded by random draw, so a number of folks went home with some very nice swag. My thanks to Dave Cole and Shane Miller for putting on an outstanding match. Really, hats off to you both for a very well run match. The scores are posted below with one correction: I believe Shannon Turner actually shot F-Open. I know for sure that Damon Cali placed 3rd In F-TR.

Congrats guys, looks like a fun match with plenty of tight competition. That's a great turn-out, kudos to the match directors for attracting so many competitors. That does not happen by accident.

Double edged sword Drew. Loved shooting off the cement but who gets stuck pouring it and finishing it at Elk River! Joel?

Ha, ha, ha, ha....you know what happened the last time I had a trawl in my hand  You didn't get into the club based on your charm and good looks...they needed a finisher for all the plans at the club:D

Congrats Tracy for the PR and Norm. It's awesome that you get to shoot together.

Thank you! It is awesome that we get to shoot together. We were actually asked a question by a young man I shot with on my lane. He asked if we were in our own competition against each other. My hubby was quick to say no......................UNTIL it came down to X count :D:D:p:p

Tracy, when I saw the scores for the first time I about stood up when I saw you 2 were that close. Lol That was a close shave Norm! Ha

Mike, Even though the scores don't reflect it, she really did out shoot my arse. I was shooting a 284 she was shooting a Dasher..I lost two to vertical and she lost three...I lost 4 to wind (napping as Greg said) she lost three. After she gets another year under her belt, I suspect I will have to start manipulating her ammo.:eek::D:D

Congrats to the winners, great shooting. Nice trophies to.

Greg, if you keep that up they're gonna make that .223 illegal............:p:D

Jade, I think Greg is doing something illegal. It's the only possible explanation. Having discounted his methodical load development, outstanding GAP rifles, increasingly excellent wind reading, and consistent technique; the only thing left is some kind of illegal stuff or maybe magic. Everybody knows you cannot win F-TR with a .223. ;)

My mother passed on to me a "life rule" that I follow religiously, "Cheaters never prosper". Having said that, I only shoot that rifle in important matches so as not to raise too much unwanted suspicion ;).
