My shooting trailer

Hey Rick in Oregon, Who makes the tan shooting benches, they look super stout!
Thanks, John.

John, as noted by Hal, the BR Pivot was my meager design and invention for what we all here love to do. It was in production here in Bend, OR just a few flaps of the crows wings from Nosler from 1998 till I sold the patent and manufacturing rights in 2008 to Battenfield Technologies/Caldwell Shooting Products. It is now sold under their banner with the same name.

The BR Pivot Lite is not produced by them at this time, and that's a shame, as it was by far the most popular model of the two versions with a 30% weight saving with the same degree of stability. At the time of sale, it was exported to 16 countries around the world, used by Federal, State, and local agencies here, as well as over a thousand precision and varmint shooters.

Only the mostly steel version is available from Caldwell, but it's basically the original design, just a mite heavier. In the rat patch, the ability to rotate a full 360* gives shooting opportunities not possible with fixed-leg benches......which led me to the design of the BRP out of what I'd call "field frustration" in targets always seeming to appear just out of the arc of fire with my old fixed-leg bench. The entire rig folds up and is stored in two custom-designed ballistic nylon carry/storage bags made for us by the Red Oxx Company, in Billings, MT.

If you can find one of the originals, you'll get offers to buy, as they now seem to command a premium price from those who know what they are.

I've shot off your original bench, too. The swivelability was excellent, what a super design!!!

Unfortunately, NY says its illegal shoot from anything that has wheels. Heck, we can't even lean a loaded firearm up against a wheelbarrow!!!

If that were not the case, I'd have me a little ATV trailer decked out with one of those benches, I promise ya!!!
Thanks for the posts & pics, guys...

And laws like that are really a shame. I know their intent is to keep people from road hunting I would imagine or shooting from inside a vehicle but it is unfortunate that it also prohibits a gun from parking his truck in a field and being able to shoot out of the bed. Or in our case in WI, we have to unhook the trailer to make it legal or take a wheel off the truck... kind of silly

If the trailer has a plate or is registered, it's a vehicle here in AZ, no go for shooting off it. Unhooked or not

Do they let you get away with no plate on a trailer under 3k? In WI under 3k is no plate. I've been pulled over enough in IL to know they need one though...

Are you kidding???! AZ is the worst state on registration fees. Every trailer has a plate,, mine is permanent but it's still bullshit here. $900.00 for plates on my GMC

I think CA and Gov Brown is getting ready to take over that spot from AZ. Can't wait to retire and get out of here for good and never look back. Only 12 more years to go:mad:

GACK!!!! I hope those plates last a the life of the truck

Methinks you are going "whole hog" Fredo! ;)

I do not think you need a trailer. I have seen you shoot prone. I think you need an ultimate tripod if you need anything.

I do like that trailer though. Makes it look fun

Trailer plates here are permanent under a certain GVW,,autos/trucks are annual. The fees go down as the vehicle depreciates but not much

Here in Oregon if you're a vet and at even partially disabled (can't remember the percentage; sorry), the state issues a special plate that is good for the lifetime of the veteran, and is transferrable vehicle to vehicle, and it's free!

I had and used heavily the original BR Pivot but had to finally junk it when the aluminum galled with the steel going into the base. NOTHING would free it. Quite a lot of money to walk away from.

You Bet I do other Brother Darryle -- 105 degrees in the shade was tough on this fat boy. And to think I left 60 degrees and a cool breeze in the Big Horns shootin Rock Chucks to drive the 12 hrs to Colorado to burn up. Done a lot of DUMB things when I was a kid, and that was one of em.

Good to hear from ya DJ.
