My new toy with some questions.

I just picked this up this afternoon. It is chambered in 221 Fireball. What do you guys use for bases? I have a ton of leupold rings so I'd like to use those but do they make them?

The bases that work on the Model 7 also work on the XP, Leupold's work but most of the guys with custom XP's are running EGW's.

You can also get much more info on your pistol from the guys at:

Very nice!
Is it a 4 digit serial#?
The Specialty Pistol site is a great one and it has a link to judge the age of that beauty. :)

It does not have a 4 digit number. It is pretty clean also.

I was the same way but I feel I got a good price on this one. I was about to buy a Contender. I have seen a few going here in the classifieds but they were more than I wanted to pay.

Hoier,
Probably going to start a big pissing match here but I truly believe that with good loads your XP will out shoot a Contender. I've shot that caliber XP (221 Fireball) and they are wickedly accurate. Glad you held out for what you truly wanted.

Hoier, How are you planning on shooting it? We used to lay on our backs cradeling behind head with left arm with legs bent up, feet flat on the ground. Rest pistol against outside of right leg and touch her off. (DON'T SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE LEG!!) Pretty sure a rifle scope wouldn't work with this scenario unless youve got a very flexible neck and back. If you are going to shoot it from some sort of rest you could probably get away with it if you can hold it down on recoil. Remember that's a really light gun, and they don't recoil like a rifle.

Yeah, I was planing on shooting it from a rest. I'm not going to be shooting any matches with it. Shooting br and old ladies don't leave time for picking up new disaplines.

From what I gather the SA700 is a different mount from the 600/XP-100/Model 7/XR-100. Screw amount and shelf height being the concern.
