This rifle started out as a Remington VTR in 204 Ruger which I was trying to sell on here for months with only limited interest. I split the gun up and sold the factory tri-angle barrel right away but had no interest in the action or the MDT chassis. I decided to give it a go at building a Remage rifle. First issue was the poor looking matte finish on the Remington receiver, I stripped it off and polished the metal and gave it a go with a "home" bluing kit, it's not awesome but it turned out great looking and will do the job nicely.
I found a company that actually stocks ready made Remage barrels in stainless along with the proper nuts for the conversion. I purchased a .223 match chamber 1-7 twist 5R 26" threaded with a .252 neck and a .069 free bore built on an X-caliber blank. Picked up the receiver from a friend that built a jig to notch it for the recoil lug pin, now waiting on my go/no-go gauge set.
