My first rimfire

Im not really even sure how small a competitive rimfire is supposed to shoot. I would expect to be able to get it going better than it is. I only have a couple boxes of midas, I have more of the cci. The cci standard has shot well in a lot of factory rifles and pistols for me and my buddies and its not target ammo money.
Come on up to northwestern PA and shoot with Dave W. and I at the Ridgway 22 silhouette match. You may be able to break the course record of 39 out of 40.81CAEAF2-41A7-4379-B8CC-7EAB927FD4F4.jpeg

I've noticed that you can shoot the Midas + or Tenex and after a few rounds of seasoning the barrel, switch to the CCI standard velocity, and it shoots just as well but it doesn't seem to last more than 10-15 rounds. I know a lot of folks have experimented with lubes.

Very nice rifle!
The CCI SV shoots as good as Lapua pistol out of my High Standard Victor. And it does very well out of quite a few rifles. Another one that we have been using at our club is Norma TAC. It is almost always in stock and you can order it direct from Norma for around $50 a brick. We don't shoot any BR matches, just silhouette in the summer and off hand in the winter.

I recently joined the ranks of rimfire shooters so I can get more trigger time since centerfire rifle components have become so expensive and hard to find. I am back to rationing my centerfire shooting.

I got a Tikka T1X a few weeks ago and I am totally please with it so far. The aftermarket vertical pistol grip made huge difference in my ability to shoot this rifle more precisely.

I'm shooting nothing but CCI SV and while my groups off a bipod and rear rest are not as tight as yours, I am still satisfied shooting at 1" orange dots at 50 yards. To date 36, 5 shot strings, only one miss and I believe it was an ammo issue because the shot was so wild. Having a lot of fun with this rifle.

Five shots, one hole same condition. Not semi clover leafed, no cutting holes - none of that.

They all go in the same hole, five shots looks like one. That’s a “tuned” 50 yard paper puncher. Tough to win without; even with great wind reading and timing to start/stop appropriately.

ARA and PSL .. ARE without question the hardest Benchrest games out there. It’s not even close .. 25 record bulls in 20 minutes over 4 to 6 cards using factory loaded lead ammunition. If you think you can compete come on out and shoot a match, I guarantee it’ll make you a better centerfire shooter.

Get more lots to test of Lapua and Eley. Send that thing to AZ or OH to get it tested with an opportunity to buy a case of ammo.

There are two schools of thought for tuning. If you slugged and crowned that barrel and it came out a standard length of 24-25” after fit and chamber. Then set a Harrell or Holeshot tuner ~8.5oz at “135” +- 10 and “200” +- 10 increments.

If that doesn’t work set it at “0” and either add a PQP or Pappas slide/noodle tube with weight or just add progressive weights to the tuner and test, test, retest. Riverside Machine makes a good tuner weight set.

Shoot that sob to the best one hole group over five shots in same condition and find good ammo at tunnel or through other shooters. What works in mine, “prob” won’t work in yours. Most buy to have ammo to shoot then trade accordingly.

That tune just like a centerfire rifle will change with temp/humidity/BP/Alt.

Ya I slugged it and it ended up right around 24". Im out of any quality ammo and its tough to find. Jerry told me about the same thing on the tuner. 200 was pretty good, 135 was not, but 0 looks like it has the most potential but that ammo is gone. I just caught wind the IBS will be sanctioning rimfire group and score matches. So who knows where this will go.

Send me a PM Alex and we’ll find ya some ammo. Need to make yourself a one piece rest with delrin top !

For plinking around and having fun, try the cheapo Federal American Eagle ammo. They do a 38gr copper plated hollow point and a 40gr lead round nose. My old school bolt action BR 22lr will shoot both AE ammo amazingly well at 100 yards. Shoots the same little holes like your targets with AE 38gr ammo at 50 yards. And my rifle is nowhere near the quality of yours.

Is there a website depicting these type targets/guns are being shot? Do they shoot inside or outside?
