i once long ago(almost 5 years ;D), my favorite was a savage m12 in 223 with 55gr vmax and a load of benchmark. then about three years ago i got a tc encore with a 16 1/4" MGM barrel in 20 vartarg shooting 32gr varmageddon with h4198. last year i got another tc encore with a 27" MGM barrel in 22-250ai and i shoot a 75gr amax with a load of superformance.

the 223 goes at 100 yards .274" with 5 shots.
the 20vt goes at 100 yards .238" with 5 shots.
the 22-250ai goes at 100 yards .157" with 5 shots.
each 5 shot group is a total avg of 5 groups

my favorite has to be the 20 vartarg for shooting groundhogs and foxes. although the 22-250ai shoots great out to 500+ yards, and what can you say about the 223....for hunting the farm fields of sw pa, i think i did alright!!!

And to answer the question...I am a groundhogger, so I like the 22's and 6mm for ooomph. 220, 22-250, 222, 22khornet, 22PPC, 6BR...lighter bullets in most...40, 50, 55 and 70.

All heavy bench guns except the TC bullberry 22K

i'll try to answer ya, but i had a stroke a few years ago. i first started my 22-250ai(MGM BARREL) using 22-250 in lapua brass, a 40.2gr superformance, cci bench rest primer and a 75gr amax. my col is 2.494". my twist rate is 1 in 8".
i shot the first 100 to get my brass formed. the moa for these was around .3-.4" at 100 yards. next, i then shot .3gr above max 22-250 loads. i shot from .2-.3" until i found the one. 5 groups that avg at .157" ;D

this year i was going to use the lead sled i just bought. i was using a 444 marlin in my encore that normally shot .6" at 100 yards. i took out the lead sled, sat the encore on top of it and started shooting. i went from .6" to all over the place!!! . i then took out my home made forearm and sandbag out. the 444 marlin was back on at .6" . i know that the lead sled works, i shoot my 30-40 krag with 165gr ranch dog out of it. must be a single shot kind of thing.

anyway, i use 41.5gr of superformance with the 75gr amax. i've got a picture of the home made thing, sorry the pic is so dark, its from my laptop. when i start shooting my 22-250ai this year, i'll try to get some pics, i don't have a cell phone or anything digital. dang stroke!!! ;D

i forgot to mention the front(don't know what the word is) bag supporting the gun just ahead of the frame rather than farther out on the forend. i learned this trick on anther forum. ;D
