My Cerakote projects

I recently posted about my first attempt at Cerakoting. Everything turned out great in my opinion. Not 100% perfect, but passable for anything I could have paid somebody to do. I'm just going to keep this page going to post pics of my projects as I do them.

First attempt at cerakoting using graphite black and magpul FDE on my AR15's. I ordered new stocks so I will post up pics once they are completed.

one of the CZ83's after cerakoting in stainless and graphite black. I need to figure out what to do with the grips. I attempted to cerakote the original ones and they melted at 150 degrees. Cheap communist plastic!

Coming soon, OD Green Savage 300 win mag and stainless with pink grips cz83, pictures of my neighbor's AR15 I did in OD Green, and a friend's Beretta 96 in OD Green

You can do the commie grips, just spray them, set them aside for a week in a warm spot (window sills work great). no oven.

I may have to try that. I only have flat dark earth in the air dry, so that would be a possibility. The oven was only at 150 degrees. I figured the inside of cars can get that hot here in the summer, so the grips should hold up to it. But....they didn't.

Well, I decided to do my Ruger 22/45 Lite. It was originally this hideous gold anodized color. Now it is woods worthy!!! Had one little screw up with a punch drifting in the rear sight. The Punch slipped and nicked my slide.

I too am surprised that the grips didn't handle the 150 degrees, after all it takes 140 to burn skin. Btw, n10, the ruger looks very nice, nice job.

I switched from GunKote to CeraKote several years ago, mostly to get a more durable finish, but also because of the wide selection of colors. It's certainly more expensive & tougher to work with than GunKote, but I think it's worth it.

I really like the looks of your Ruger - good choice of colors!

Great work, but I'm not sure I'm ready for a CZ 83 with pink grips. :o

Disclaimer: I've had my 83 since the days when the model # and the total number in the US weren't that much different (most all of them came from the same source back then, the Rod and Gun shop in the PX in Frankfurt, Germany), so I'm sorta' used to blued steel and black grips.

Another thought on temperature, though air dry on the window sill is probably the best bet; I've found the settings on many ovens to be a ballpark range guide - I needed to use a thermometer that I could monitor from outside the oven when temperature needed to be controlled tighter than +/- 10 or 15 degrees.

Cerakoat is an outstanding product. If you blast it with the right stuff and cook it for two hours.. it will not come off or rust. Mil spec. product I think.

I have done several projects with it and I am extreamly happy..happy.. happy...

Well, here is my 300 blackout. Not very black. Too much FDE. I'm going to cerakote the pistol grip and stock black. BTW, I love this Mission First Tactical buttstock. Only weighs between 5-6 ounces and locks up MUCH better than Magpul MOE stocks. The MFT grip is nice too. I just wanted to be different and go with something other than Magpul. The MFT gear is also made in the USA, as is Magpul.

Here is my wife's CZ83. Stainless with graphite black accents with her pink grips. Turned out pretty good......except I'm not a fan of pink.
