last year I paid over £2000.00 to have my 13 year old dogs knee joint repaired, on telling a neighbour about it he said why didn't you spend the money on your own knee joints instead of limping around on a walking stick, I replied, because I can use a walking stick, he can't

God love you!

We had our 14 y/o dog undergo a pacemaker implant. Her resting pulse is supposed to be about 100 bpm. Prior to the surgery, it was under 40 bpm. She's still tickin', and we're truly blessed to be able to afford the cost of such care.

My wife, myself, and our Schnauzers are up in Big Bear right now enjoying the snow. These dogs go crazy in the mountains, especially during snowy season. A giant weighing in at 130 lbs, and standard at 55 lbs. Lots of love, protection and fun. Manhunt taking place right now.

I am lovin hearing about your guys dogs. They sure bring alot of joy and smiles to our faces. Can't tell you how many times coming home from work that she made a crappy day a good one. Keep em coming.

Here's a read that I thought you'll all enjoy and will share with others that have lost their best friend.

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month.

The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was
crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.

She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to
heaven, God would recognize her.

I told her that I thought that we could, so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog?
Abbey died yesterday and is with you in heaven.
I miss her very much.

I 'm happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her.
She likes to swim and play with balls.

I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog.

I really miss her.
Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey & Meredith,
addressed it to God/Heaven.

We put our return address on it.

Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she
said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven.
That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office.

A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet.
I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch
addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand.

Meredith opened it.
Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.'

Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God
in its opened envelope.

On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I
recognized her right away.

Abbey isn't sick anymore.
Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart.

Abbey loved being your dog.

Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to
keep your picture in so I'm sending it back to you in this little book for
you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you
write it and sending it to me.

What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.

I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.

By the way, I'm easy to find.
I am wherever there is love.

Love,
God

Steve Murphy

I know it's a old thread but one of my favorites, .Here's the new kid on the block .
what's the new kid's name? looks like a keeper to me! Since this thread's inception, we lost two of our girls (Suzie, at age 16, last two years with a pacemaker just like my dad wears, and Betty, at age 13y 7m to cancer), and it still hurts, just like always. But life goes on, and we've added two dogs to the household to share the love. Tanner, who will be 15 on March 1st, is next to me on the couch as I type this. Stanley and Ivy are nearby in their crate (miniature dachshunds, aka our "perimeter security team"). And the new hellions, Dexter (sheepdog) and Martha-Pearl (chocolate Lab) are in an adjacent room drying off in their crates (floor is heated) after yet another romp in the snow. We're truly blessed.

I was telling the wife that i wanted a Boerboel, or two, when there is a vacancy in our house.

For now we have the best dog on four paws...Pit, Akita and Presa Canario mix....

Best damn dog i`ve ever owned, nobody is getting in here.....

As you may have noticed my best friend is Norman who is a pure bred german shorthair pointer. I domesticated him totally. He sits with me ,eats with me and sleeps curled up in a ball all night between me and my girlfriend. He is loving to say the least. We had a bout about 6 years ago when we lost 4 dogs in less than 2 years and it was as hard as losing a loved one because they are loved unconditionally.

My best buddy in the whole world.
Wants to be with me 24/7. He is the only dog I have ever had that howls when he plays with toys. Its hilarious :) He is smart as a tack to boot. Hes not a hunting dog obviously but, he is one heck of a squirrel chaser.
He was a rescue I got at 8 weeks old. He is part 1/2 Boston Terrier and 1/2 Shitzu. He looks like a BT just has a long tail.image.jpeg
