Mounting a 56mm Scope

Hey guys, just picked up a scope with a 30mm tube and a 56mm bell.

My gun has a #7 taper, standard target barrel. Will standard bases and high rings get this thing up in the air far enough for the bell to clear?

Or what is the common way to do these?

Scope is a NF BR

I've used this method for years. It works well.

With your scope rail mounted on the rifle, stack two equal amounts of washers (or pennies) at the location of where you will mount the rings. Place your scope on the stacks and add additional pennies until you have the desired height. Measure the stacks with a caliper and you will have your saddle height above the base. If your rings are sold with a measurement from base to center of ring, just add .59055 to your original measurement for a 30mm tube. Done. Buy your rings with the closest measurement to your set up.

After using several types of rings, the Nightforce Ultra Light Rings are the best for me. Don't forget to lap any rings you get.

Sweet! Never thought of this method before.

Thank you!

+1 on the Signature Zee rings. Extra high will work perfect with the 56 mm scope. An added bonus is...no ring marks on that expensive scope!

Signature Zee High's and a EGW HD work with my NF BR on a Savage PTA and Remington 700 with Bull barrels. Both have adjustable combs to get my eye up on center.

Burris Zee Rings have been known to have a bit of slippage, particularly with heavier recoiling rifles. YMMV.

I have a set of Signature Zee rings on a 300 WSM Bench Rest Rifle and also a set on a 300 RUM Improved hunting rifle, no problem with slipage on either. Both guns see a fair amount of use. They are great rings and take care of any mis-allignment issues without lapping or bedding

I have the same set up as gunner and no problems with slippage. I have used them on 300 mag hunting rifles with no problems. They are great rings as far as I'm concerned.
