More NRA intrigue?

EVP, current Head Thief in Charge, is on the Tely many evenings with a pledge that our donations won't be wasted and will be used to benefit the members. Former HTiC WLP, spent how many millions of members dollars on legal fees to the Brewer firm? Now the new HTiC is spending how many more millions to some other legal firm? My memory ain't what it used to be but I ain't that daft yet........

It's On,.. "Life Support" !
The Magazine is Now going Online ( No more Magazine in Paper, to Pass on to, the Kid's & grandkids ! )

Right now you can opt to receive quarterly paper magazines. I'm sure down the road that will be gone. Overall, I am disappointed the magazine is going down the so called digital path. Unique? Absolutely not. GUNS is now 100% digital, Rifle Shooter mag is GONE, now the NRA. RIFLE magazine is now going to incorporate articles on handguns. Guns&Ammo is largely a handgun and AR magazine with the odd article on rifles. Best lately is the series of wood and blued metal by Dave Emary. My kind of reading.

What about Rifle and Handloader? I won't read about or have that crap in my house that you mention that is in these magazine. That's these bolts with "swirly marks" on them, nasty looking "mini oil drum bolt knobs", bolt actions with the barrel whacked off too short and noise makers installed on barrel ends.

Yup. My club in Pa. has the same requirement. The only good news is I sent a big check for a lifetime membership 20 years ago, so I’m covered. Even tho they don’t get a penny from me, I still have my lifetime card to show them.
Likewise - though I got the life membership at reduced promo rate. Still getting frequent requests to become a benefactor, and add them to my will. Nope.

I've been a "Benefactor" for as long as I can remember. Even though I don't need to make annual payments, I've continued to contribute to our cause over the years. Supposedly, my name is inscribed on the walls of Freedom Hall, but who knows.

With all that went on with WLP, I've completely stopped sending the NRA any $$$$$ and have, instead, supported a few other active 2A associations.

I will not paint the entire NRA with the brush used by some of the executives of the NRA that tend to paint others with. The others, being shooters in the very same fight, but as members of other state or national organizations, just not the NRA. I do believe they made some real enemies rather than allies by doing so.

i havent stopped receiving AM rifleman in recent years just to geta little more out of my life membership. I have elected not to receive any print issues in future. I wont miss it in its current form. thats less space taken up in my box where something i need to read can be delivered. Like the NRA itself the magazine used to be a good thing.

NRA is still a good thing if they turn it around. Does a lot of good in the training and match areas. We need a strong voice in washington. The 2nd amendment is under relentless attack. Prior execs of the NRA were terrible. They have been through this before. Remember the Carter years when he purged the bums running it then. Its focus has to be political in addition to the other things it does for shooters. Don't though the baby out with the bathwater.

I remember back in the 1980's it was revealed that the head of United Way had his own 727!
Yeah I remember United Way back then. I was working for the gubermint at the time and they were really pushing automatic pay deductions for charity giving. They also really pushed UW. Then all the news came out how they were basically stealing the money for their own use and I never gave them another cent.
I have a strong distrust of most charity organizations, along with the NRA. T2T gets my money now.

The NRA brings thoughts to my mind of Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swagart, and Jim and Tammy Fay Baker.

Maybe it would be best to leave the church and the false preachers but not Jesus.
IMO your examples were much worse. They were swindling the followers in the name of GOD.

A company that I worked for about 20 years ago was solicited by United Way. Our owner declined to donate and about overnight ALL of our business dried up. We almost got shut down until he figured out what was going on. He made a Large "donation" (he would not say how much) and again over night the contracts came rolling in.
Not much different than the Mafia!

Been a Life Member since the mid 90's. When the all the fraudulent behavior started being exposed, I stopped all donations. When they called for money I told them to take all my future donations out of LaPierre's clothing allowance and just go get all they needed. No longer receive NRA's panhandling attempts.

They say with WLP gone the ship is turning back on course - we'll see. Will take awhile to make an organization that size turn. Weeding/purging out directors may be a start.

I get the the American Rifleman and see great value in NRA-ILA and what they do. Filing suit challenging the NFA, filing petition to rehear New Jersey's carry restrictions, etc. Hope they get involved in Colorado Gov. Polis's Permission Slip ( SB25-003 ) set to go into affect August 1, 2026.

Another function NRA has a purpose for IMO is, as mentioned earlier, management of the competitions. As an F Class competitor, I would like to see more NRA attention given to that part of the organization.
