MOA hash marks in scope

muleman69

USMC -1st marine Div. RVN
I have two long range scopes with the MOA hash marks,is there a reason to have hash marks in the top vertical x- hair? To me it just clutters my field of view. I'm sure there is a good reason and I must have slept though that class

Depending on caliber and where you set zero, it may have use. Most people use 100 as the standard now but not all do.

If you had your scope dialed to 600 then needed to make a closer shot fast like in a prs match or something it could come in handy. Also if you’re trying to spot and measure your miss from a dirt splash you can use them.

I use mine for measuring\ranging. Also shooting F-class if the X isn't clear for whatever reason, I use the hashmarks to bracket the target.

All of my rigs are zeroed at 200 with zero stops, if I need to shoot at 100 I use a hashmark and use sighters to get on the target, shoot for score and then can go back to my 200 yard zero

The hash marks above the center line are definitely in your view.
I find them useful for ranging targets

Sounds good ,are your hash marks on with your Moa dial or close?

There particularly handy especially a one minute reticle.
Check the scope forum under SWFA there is an example of ranging targets you may find useful
