Scope Knob Hash Marks.

I've got a scope with 'gold' colored hash marks on the elevation & windage knobs - Sightron SIII, and through the years have worn/faded. I would like to fill in those marks with a white for better contrast/clarity. I've tried a couple of things - white pencil and colored felt tips - no joy. Anybody done this sucessfully ? What works ? Thanks in advance.

Paint for golf clubs works well. G Paint. I used it on the same scope as you, Sightron S111, night and day difference in being able to see the numbers. Mine's been on for a couple of years now and still looks as good as the day I did it, although it doesn't get any hammer, range use only. I only intended to do the windage and elevation but it went so well, I ended up doing the parallax and all the writing that was in gold. A friend did his as well using my pot and there is probably enough left to do another one or two scopes.

I use simple acrylic paint from the hobby / arts and crafts store. It cleans up easily with just water.

Clean the knobs real good, making sure to get in the crevices with an old toothbrush or tip of a toothpick.

It takes a little practice but once you get the hang of it it's not a difficult thing to do. Good luck.

I’d degrease, mask off, paint it white with ultra 2X and wipe the excess off gently before it dries using a slick patch barely damp with alcohol.

If you “miss a spot” paint it in with a toothpick.
