MN long range F-class Championship

Congratulations to Pat S. who shot outstanding only dropping 3 points on Sunday's palma course to come away with the F-open championship win for the weekend. Mike L. came away with the F-TR championship win setting a F-TR senior national record on Saturday. Tyson B. (12 years old) also shot amazingly well on Saturday setting a JR F-open National record and ending the day 1 point behind the leader in 3rd place, unfortunately he was not able to come back on Sunday for the palma course.

Kudos to Pat and Mike! You guys showed us how it's done! You guys earned it.

Pat, when you gonna switch over to F-T/R again? :)

thank's guys. it's a lot of fun when you have a 3 way tie going into the last string. thank's also to all the grrc members who always put on a good match. scully.

The results are not posted yet, but they should be up on the www.mrra.org website within a few days. Go to the high power / F-class schedule find the MN LR championship and they will change the program to results when they get posted.

Nice job Pat!! You were a "machine" all weekend! No room to stumble this weekend and you didn't! Congrats!! Eric in DL

No results yet posted on MRRA's sight as of tonight. I am real curious to see the total amount of competitor that shot. Sure there was some great shooting going on, Scully pulled a well deserved victory and Tyson B. was on fire. Awesome for you guys!!

But I am curious see how many shooters actually participated because a shooting buddy asked (on this forum) if he should send down registration fees in advance and was advised that it was unnecessary as there will be plenty room so just show up. Unfortunately he shows up after driving 200+ miles and was told he was placed on a waiting list to shoot in the event the registered shooters all showed up. All Registered shooters showed up and my shooting bud was told there is no room for him, sorry...

So my question is what are the causal factors of not being able to make room for one more shooter? Too many shooters? Not enough targets/frames? Too many relays already? Not enough personnel to pull and score for this shooter? I just find it mind boggling as how this turned out so sour for this one shooter.... Especially considering he asked to send in the preregistration fees and was advised, it was not necessary..

Enquiring minds would like to know.. ;)

Rod,
As I explained to Brad in the other post about this match, the entire incident caught us off-guard. I don't have an answer to why shooters were turned away. Squadding issues, lack of targets, broken carriers? I am not going to second guess or comment on the match director's decision. It was his match to run, he gave up 3 days for it.

As for the participation, I have been after the ERSC Monday night crowd to shoot LR matches as well as MR. There were two new Monday guys there Saturday, and a third who shot only Sunday after being put on stand-by too. The rest of the F-class shooters were what I consider the main traveling F-Class competitors, and a bunch were missing, BigHig and others. There were nearly the same number of sling and F-Class shooters at the match.
I too am awaiting the results as I have to fill out the paperwork for the national records.

My suggestions would be:
(1) All match bulletins should clearly state range capacity or the number of shooters that will be allowed.
(2) Pre-register, regardless of what anyone tells you, especially if travelling. If the match is cancelled, refunds are sent out.
(3) Contact THE MATCH DIRECTOR and personally let them know you are coming if time doesn't permit pre-registration.

it may be a while for the mrra to post scores. they still havn't posted scores from the long range regional june 8-9. I think I have the top 3 open class figured. ben winget shot a 1031-44x, rick seivers 1032-44x, I shot a 1034-48x.

the deal with brad sucked. in retrospect they should have had two targets with 2 shooters each. it came to light so late that wade and I went over to the match coordinator while we were in prep to sort it out. we did have a couple guys say they would opt out of the match so brad could shoot but he had already headed home. scully.

Just an FYI on the scores getting posted on the MRRA site. It is 100% dependent on the match director to get the scores sent in to the web master for them to be posted. This is a personal pet peeve of mine as some clubs don't seem to ever get their scores in at all. It is nice to be able to look back on old scores, but it sucks when there are so many holes in the records. Urge your local MN match directors to get their results sent in to the webmaster, and quickly!

Our LR and F-Class regional has been sold out the past 4 years. The way we deal with potential problems is do the best we can to head them off before they start.
Directly from our match program:
SQUADDING: All matches will be squadded. Competitors will also score and be responsible for pit duty. Infiltration squadding will be utilized if deemed necessary by the match director.

ADVANCE ENTRY IS REQUIRED! All individual entries must be paid in advance. Competitors may guarantee an entry in the matches by pre-registering and sending payment with registration form

Both of those items help us prevent sour issues. Shooters should read the program and if someone still shows up to a sold out match, we have the option of infiltrating them. Not ideal, but it is a tool we have to use just in case.

Scott's 3 suggestions are very good to also help prevent issues.
