MN congressman's response to Hearing Protection Act

When I lived in Kalifronica, My Senator always ended these notes with a request for a donation. At least this guy wasn't peeing your cup whiles asking for money.

Here is what I got back from my ND rep!!

Dear Tod,

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for H.R. 3799, the Hearing Protection Act.

On October 22, 2015, Congressman Matt Salmon (R-AZ) introduced H.R. 3799 which would remove suppressors from regulations established under the National Firearms Act of 1934. Specifically, the bill would eliminate the requirement for buyers to submit an application to the ATF and pay a $200 tax on suppressor purchases. In addition, it would replace the arduous ATF background check with the more efficient National Criminal Background Check (NICS) required of other gun purchases. H.R. 3799 was referred to the House Committees on Ways and Means and the Judiciary.

Suppressors make it easier for law-abiding hunters and sportsmen to protect their hearing in the 41 states where private suppressor ownership is currently legal and help to mitigate noise complaints from those who live near shooting ranges. Further, I believe law-abiding citizens should be free to purchase suppressors without paying the burdensome taxes and completing the onerous application processes required under current law. For these reasons I am a cosponsor of the Hearing Protection Act and will advocate for its passage in the House of Representatives.

Please know I am a strong defender of the rights guaranteed in the Second Amendment, and will continue to protect these rights in Congress.

Thank you again for contacting me. I value your input as I serve you in the United States House of Representatives. To receive the most up-to-date information on my positions, I encourage you to sign up for my email newsletter at cramer.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Kevin Cramer
Member of Congress

He is GOOD PEOPLE!!!!

The more populated a state becomes the more proportionally it becomes populated by sheep. For every person born who wants to work, three are born who would rather sleep. And the fifth is a politician who craves "influence and power" so he and the sleepy ones go hand in hand, right down the toilet, sadly taking the rest of us with them.

It is time to do more than encourage your friends to vote conservative. it is time to take personal responsibility for our children and educate them outside the public schools. Maybe then a generation of kids will grow up working, serving and holding on to liberty that we have given up to the sheep.

As a citizen of Mn. it is up to you all to elect your own officials. you could start by electing local officials that are conservative to office. Election judges and others in the process need to be fair and turn in people that corrupt the vote. I know it is not easy because this has been allowed to fester for so long.

Yes, we do elect our own officials. In this state there are more liberals than conservatives. Local elections can be won by conservative candidates as most of the suburbs and rural areas are conservative. Unfortunately, most of the state's population is concentrated in the cities, which lean heavily liberal. You need a majority to win statewide elections. We don't have that.

I am conflicted
On the one hand I love my gun rights.
On the other I appreciate the health insurance I have now due to "obamacare"

where does it say that I have to choose between the unlikely event that I need a gun to save my life and the likely event that I will need health care to save my life?

When you guys get cancer and can't afford treatment then you come xplain to me how your gun rights made you vote for the concervatives that want rich folks to run things for their benefit.
All that said this is a shooting forum, I love shooting and hunting. I will vote for folks that appreciate our freedoms. But to put it simply, we have to compromise.

I apologise for getting political on a forum I just ranted about getting political.

I love this group, the help and insight are so valuable to me.

Let's get back to our basics ... Shooting and fun!

I hope I didn't just make enemies as I appreciate all you folks.

Well ericbc7 you are welcome for your insurance. My costs have doubled and are getting to be more than three times where they originally started. Every year what is covered goes down also. While it may appear to be good for you in the long run it will not be so.

I'm glad it is working out for someone. My premiums have doubled and my deductible has more than tripled since this scam started. The only way I am able to keep my premiums as low as double is by selecting literally the worst plan available, not even remotely comparable to what I had before. I guess I'm just doing my part to make America better. Thanks Obama!

"The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people's money too." Name me one government agency that does things more efficiently than the private sector! When those of us that are producing in this country finally decide we have had enough and stop, who will pay then?

In that I am shamed by my entire congressional delegation (NY), he answered nothing.
It is a step in the appeasement process..As Churchill said:
Appeasement is the process by which you feed an alligator a little bit at a time hoping he will eat U last.

Above sentence from Mr. Nolan tells me everything I need to know about this congress critter. He has no clue about the true intent of the 2A and thinks going "duck" hunting is exercising his 2A rights. Where do these yahoo's come from?

Also good post SHootSTraight22!

Frank

I was thinking the same thing.

You're congressmen are not even reading the emails you send. Some staffer drops them into buckets and the closest canned email response they have on file gets sent out.

Notice how his response shows the desire to split gun owners buy focusing on "assault weapons' (ak AR-15s). The left has always had hope that they could peel off the bolt action hunter and the shotgun duck hunter from the ever growing "tacticool" crowd. They continue to push this strategy.

That,s one way devide and conquer'
Other thing,s tune a deaf ear , have an aid answer your question, and giving you a hard time, or giving you a stall.
They are never held accountable because they didn't talk to you personally, They way they deny the statement.
The old dodge the answer games, also change the subject by injecting information that has nothing to do with the question asked Called a pivot.

Yep' Sounds just like CHUCK SCHUMER OUR FAiR SENATOR,s and his Buddy Christian Glilibrand.

The two top 2nd amendment foes.

The Dems national agenda is total control of firearms held by the public.

That letter sounds just like Chucky... It's proablely a copy, by the way Hillery is going to take on the NRA chuckys pal.

Gillibrand ran as a pro second amendment advocate and swithed side one getting into office.
At the time of her first election she was endorsed by The NRA.

Gillibrand is a complete disappointment. Alleged to be pro-gun while in the House, but when hand picked to replace Clinton in the Senate, became a lying, leftist lapdog for Bloomberg and Schumer. The corruption and dishonesty of the NY state politicians (for that matter, all politicians) is why I am having a hard time considering NY residency again. But then, being in VT, I am stuck with Sanders and Leahy, which are two more lousy Senators.

Gillibrand saw the pay out to be had from switching sides.

Vermont's a nice state. A lot of nuts, but some damn fine people here and there.

Again, a state that has some conservative background but has become a "quaint little socialist experiment".

I honor men and women who get up every day and serve the country. I fear those who get up every day intent upon passing legislation (law) that hopes to "Improve" our lot. Law generally becomes a millstone about our necks.

Time once again to cry "liberty"! And not the liberty that was espoused by the French Revolution, but rather the Liberty that was espoused by the Reformation that led to our great country.

I agree that suppressors are not evil. My club has a few complaints about sound, and therefore we are restricted as to when we can shoot. After nine and up to five only right now. That might be expanded if we could control our sound. Movies of course would have you believe that only Mafia hitmen use them, when in fact it is considered rude to fire a rifle without one in Norway. They say it will wake your neighbors when you are standing on the back porch scorching some rodent that is killing your cow or whatever. As for the politics and thread control, I too would rather have health care than gun rights IF that were the only two choices. But the fact is that the two issues are mutually exclusive and have nothing at all to do with each other and how they came together in this thread baffles me.

I like health care too...but just like a suppressor, i think everyone should pay for their own. No way is a government program ever as efficient as a free market. Govnt should stay out of both and we would all be better off...and that is where they intersect

The right to self defense is not granted by the government nor by politicians nor even by the second amendment. It is granted by Natural Law which supercedes mans law...even animals have it. The second amendment simply states a natural fact that already exists and always has.
With all rights comes a responsibility. Those who believe the government can or ever could keep them safe are both irresponsible and self deluded and as far as which choice any individual has to which type of self defense mechanism is appropriate, it certainly would allow anyone to hold anything that is equal to ANY threat that might occur.
