mini lathe set up for turning case necks

Anyone have a set up for turning necks on your mini lathe? Specifically shell holder and neck support that isn't so time consuming to change out each case as to make using the lathe impractical.

Eric's techniques are slightly different than mine but after watching his video I'm inclined to make some changes in the way I've been doing it. Nice job, Eric ..................

Like the tail stock mod. Did you add that yourself?

Ken,

Unfortunately I could not claim the mod, it was there when I bought that little guy. It is handy though, saves the arm from cranking the TS, easier to drive the brass in with one turn from the wheel.

well this is what works for me. i use a K&M neck turner. i was mounting the case holder in a hand drill and then sliding the case in and turning the case with the hand drill. the mount though was always a bit off. and it was slow to put cases in the holder, tighten it, turn the necks, loosen the hold remove the case insert another and the tight the holder buy putting a small bar or rod (usually just a hex key) into the side slot and then tighten it otherwise it came loose. I discovered i could simply mount the case itself in the drill. faster, always centered and never comes loose like the case holder did. also, to champfer, i put the case in the drill and use a vld inside and an outside tool. instead of mounting the case tool in the drill, i mount the case in the drill and hold the tool in the other hand. much faster. i also polish the outside of the case neck to finish it up with fine steel wool. I started doing this because the k&m case holder would not accept the new norma dasher brass. so i improvised and the solution was better than what i was doing to begin with an pretty efficient and fast.

I have a mini lathe but have never tried turning necks in it. Im pretty new to machining, and just do small garage projects, as well as some wooden boxes and things. I'm very curious about this! One question though, what about runout? I assume you're not spending great deals of time adjusting it to 0 like you would a work piece. Cant watch the video right now but i apologize if this question is answered there.
