MidwayUSA Pricing Concerns

Yep, I have been self employed since I was a teenager. I retired last year but still work because I enjoy it. The last sentence is insulting on so many levels.
The fact that right off the jump he resorts to name calling just proves that (shrek) is an A. HOLE and knows nothing about me ,I had my own construction company for 15 years

Well on a positive note for those desperate for primers, sometime in the past I had created notifications from Midway for most of their primers. Yesterday I got the notice for the Winchester primers before they were shown here, if that’s a FYI for anyone.

Why does a thread exist about a company's pricing? Do we have so little to discuss? I often feel alone, but I let my wallet do the talking.
I think it's because we like to gripe about things that effect us personally. I personally do not play golf; so if golf balls go to $500.00 each I don't care, but let reloading supplies go up and I'm pissed!

Most people have no idea how to run a business, and when prices increase they want to blame greed; when in reality the company may actually be making no more profit than before because of increases to them. Yes, I realize that the pricing envelope gets pushed also when supply is down, but grandpa always said "you got to make hay while the sun is shinning".

And, some don't understand that profit isn't necessarily a fixed dollar amount vs a percentage. So, they "make more" on an 8# jug of powder at $400 than at $250. It might be more in dollars but not as a percentage.

Hello all
Like some of you, I was checking on Midway birthday pricing, bought a few items. I noticed several supposedly birthday prices that were the same as everyday prices at other retailers. Also some items were not available for free shipping, due to weight, that other retailers had for the same price, including free shipping.

I bought some clearance bullets about 2 weeks ago. Was a good deal. 2 different brands/types. The day after i ordered i check back , was going to order more. Both were still in stock on clearance but after my order pricing had changed. One went up by over $10 a box aand the other by $5.
Are they adoping amazons algorythem pricing?
Since Potterfield stepped down midwayusa has done the same. I try NOT to use them. Just my two cents Tommy Mc

Midway is not the only business that has price changes. If you notice, most all of the will have a note, saying prices subject too change. Just the way it is. Just remember buy when the price is reduced and before any price change does occur, as most mention in their ads.

Exactly! The cost of doing business is skyrocketing and that cost will be passed on to the consumers. It’s just the way it is. No business will survive without passing on cost increases.

Hello all. FWIW
I just recently purchased new reloading press. Doing some checking around found Scheels.
After calling and talking with them, they referred me to the store that had it in stock. Extremely helpful , courteous people. Took my order, shipped it, no shipping charges, and received it in a timely manner. Great customer service.

Someone once pointed out to me that the big difference in communism and capitalism is salesmen. Think about that one a while.

Recognize the tactics and don’t fall for them. Want to really understand what’s going on, take a sales course.

As for Midway, they bought 3 cubic assloads of a bullet for cheap. Sold one assload at minimum markup to cover the outlay, then marked the rest to sell cheaper than retail but at a higher price to make some $$. I don’t see the problem.

I've shopped Midway for many years, usually with no complaints. I do compare when I'm buying online and have a couple dozen vendors bookmarked. When I find what I want at a competitive price, click buy.
Like others, I wish list and wait for Midways free ship offer on some items.

The pricing fluctuation can go both ways at times. About 18 months ago Midway contracted Hornady to make the then discontinued .17 cal 25 grain HP. They had them priced at $90 per 500. Not a great price or bad price. I fooled around for a few days before I got around to ordering some. When I got ready to order I discovered they had changed the price to $45 per 500. I liked that a lot better than $90 so I ordered 5000.

Some yrs ago Buds guns had the pink CZ youth 452 on sale dirt cheap. I think that lasted about 24 hrs till the rim fire world discovered it and everyone was ordering one. I think I missed the boat by 16 hrs

Have several 6.5s. I been looking for some Berger 140 Hybrid Target. Of course no one has them. Checked five of my favorite places. The prices ranged from $55 to $70. Want to guess who was $70?

I get as much of what I use at Scheel"s , but I have got a ton of stuff at Midway, and have never been hosed over. If I buy it, I know the price they are asking, and if I put it in the cart, I paid what I planned on paying. I know that they are not the cheapest, and I have ordered from many other places that are cheaper, but more often than not, they have it in stock so I buy it. If I order from they and they are more expensive, it's on me, not them.
