MidwayUSA Pricing Concerns

Midways little birthday gimmick is ok if they have a item that you want that has this discount. I just backordered a box of Lapua 6br brass for $103 birthday price where regularly it’s $125, but then again blue collar reloading sells it for $105 with no tax but it’s sold out.

I have found Midway's clearance items to be just another sales tool, not really a clearance of the product, in some cases. I have bought several items on "clearance" when the site stated "just one (or 2, some small number anyway) at this price". I understand this as a sales tool to get customer's attention, up sales a little and maybe get the customer to buy more items he might need. Also keeps you coming back looking for bargains in the clearance section, never a bad thing for sales. I never thought that they were closing out the item, only that a limited number were being sold for this sales or "clearance" price and did not expect the price to stay that low after the initial offering was sold. Also helps the customer make up his mind to buy, not knowing when this amount will sell out. Like several have said, buy when and where it makes economic sense. What they do with their pricing that doesn't suit you will have no effect on your pocketbook. Best to keep in mind that individuals want to pay as little as possible and companies want to make as much as possible on their investment. We will always have these two conflicting goals and you just have to dig in and do your homework as a consumer to find the best products and service. Great that we have this capitalist economy where we have choices, rather than a government store where you can take it or leave it with no other sources.

Signed into Midway this morning to see my Birthday pricing and was impressed with the discounts on stuff I've looked at so far. 20% off Lapua brass for example, 308 LRP for $82.44 a box and in stock. I'll be taking my time to price check a few things then put an order together. Just like anything else these days it pays to shop around and buy when and where it makes sense.
Hapy Bday:)

Midway has been on my Do Not Shop list for at least 10 years. I don't miss them. Others on my list include Krogers, Sears and a few others. I can tolerate bad pricing practices by retailers. I have the option to pay the asking price or move on.
Poor customer service will get businesses assigned to the Do Not Shop category.

In a capitalism system. everyone everywhere deserves to maximize profits by seeking that difficult balance btwn setting price levels vs. the consumers willingness to pay that price.

Gun dealers don't have some special obligation for charging as little as posssible to just barely stay in business.

I'm not forced by law to buy their stuff / pay their prices.

And if they actually are so unreasonable and greedy and their job is so easy and stock so readily available for retail, I can always open a competing business and "get even" that way.

I do always shop around and Brownells, Optics Planet, Grafs, etc all have similar prices....sometimes higher sometimes lower than Midway depending on the item for sale. Can't write off Midway (or anyone) just cuz price on 1 particular item seems wrong to me.
