Microfit Stocks

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Richards Microfit stocks. If so were they a quality stock? I am interested in their bench rest style. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve.

Richard's Micro Fit benchrest thumbhole? I have /had at least a half dozen and love everyone of them. Knowing ahead of time that they're not a drop in and that you'll have to do (in some cases) lots of work to get them finished to your liking makes them a GOOD DEAL and the price is right compared to a Gunsmith fit and finished stock.
And, you have the satisfaction of being able to say "I did it my self". 8)
IMHO, well worth the price and wait and they have different designs that are not available from other stock makers. It's all in what you expect from a stock for what you pay for it. ;)
Don't order one expecting a $1000.00 for $300.00. Some have been known to look like they were cut with an ax while others were "not too bad". :) I've had both and knew in advance to be prepared for what I recieved.

I have two stocks from them. One was a thumbhole sporter it was not to bad. The other was a benchrest thumbhole and it looked like it had been cut with a chainsaw. It took hours to get it right. But if you dont mind doing some work go for it. I got both off the bargain list. Matt

and perhaps at the very bottom of the spectrum, but a woodworking savvy buddy (makes his own canoes, if that's any perspective) was so disgusted at the 95% inletted "stock" that he got from Richards Microfit that we burned it in my fireplace. I am not kidding. It burned good, and should have for $200+ when bought about 10 years ago.

If you want something better (and I think a 2x4 might be), then call Alex Sitman at Masterclass Stocks. Google for him. $300 these days should buy you a cord of firewood, not just one piece roughly in the shape of a riflestock. >:(

Take a look at what stockys has for not much more. Also call shurley bros. They make a fine stock for any need.I have one and am happy with it.It was rough, meaning just hand sanding and finishing and the inlet was almost drop right in.
