Given you like your ruger MK II Target , you might consider a Ruger MK II/III/IV 22/45 LITE. The light is about an inch shorter and a full 15 oz lighter. ( The 22/45 Lite uses a 1911 styled polimer frame and aluminum upper that puts it just about 1/2 way between the MKII and Glock) It's also highly customizable with aftermarket parts if you want to taylor it to your needs/wants. Another one I could recommend would be the Browning Buckmark series ( particularly the Micro if you want to shed weight.) The Buckmark is another well proven design with lots of factory and /or aftermarket options.

I own a lot od .22 revolvers and pistols. If light and compact is the main goal, you can't beat the Kel-Tec P17. Accurate and so light it feels like a toy gun. Fantastic trigger. However, my main plinker is a Browning Buck Mark.

If I got seen with some of those space guns you posted above, Roy and Bubba would be giving me that worried sideways glance.

This little guy, even with that crappy laser/flashlight weighs under a pound with a loaded mag. Slips in and out of a pocket slick and easy, and I shoot like John Wick with it. $179.95 a year or so ago. jd

Been packing my p17 around for years now. Sure, its ugly. But its cheap and I dont have to care about it. Lives in the belt pouch on my pack for all of hunting season. With my form1 can and a loaded mag its right at 1#. Put plenty of ptarmigan and grouse on a stick over the fire with it.

Before they "invented" all of these new, light weight, mid-sized, 22 handguns, -- there were a few iconic standards like the K-22 Smith, the Ruger Marks, High Standards, and a few others that were simply a cut above the cheap and cheesy stuff that we would have called "saturday night specials".

Here is another of the good-uns that existed from early 1900's on through prolly 1970's, and one of the best shooters, and least cheesy of the bunch. Colt Woodsman, this one a first gen, from I think '39'.

I have a MkIII 22/45 with a Pac-lite, but no Volquartsen trigger. Out of 6 22 pistols it’s my worst in accuracy, by far. It’s the only gun I have that I actually hate.

Ruger is the company that holds the distinction of actually screwing up full auto firearms (AC556)
