OMIGAWD!!!!!!

Excerpts:

"...So old that it may have been brought into the U.S. before laws were enacted in the 1960s requiring guns to be affixed with serial numbers or other marks to enable tracing..."

Because we all know a serial number renders a gun useless for committing crimes...

"...There are believed to be millions of such weapons in homes across America..."

¡GASP!

"...'there’s no way to defend against the threat posed by this,' said retired ATF agent..."

So maybe they should be outlawred?

"...they are, in some ways, ideally suited for use in sniper-style killings..."

So maybe they should be outlawred?

"...with a decent scope, a person with basic firearm proficiency can strike a target from 150 to 200 yards away, roughly the distance of the shot fired by the Kirk assassin..."

How can such a thing be legal?

"Despite their age, vintage Mauser rifles like the one authorities say was used to kill Kirk are widely available at firearm stores, pawn shops and gun shows, experts said. They can also be modified to accommodate different rounds, scopes and lighter stocks made of fiberglass."

¡GASP! So maybe they should be outlawred?

“'The basic, plain-Jane Mausers — you can go to any gun show in America and see these things for a few hundred dollars,' said Sweetow, the retired ATF official....”

OMIGAWD!!!

Coming soon to a legislature near you, courtesy of the stupid and the crooked...?

A mix of ignorance and cynical headline chasing for click revenue. They wonder why a lot of firearms owners keep a low profile. A did hear references to "high powered sniper rifle" and suprise at how far away the shooter was. Better not mention 1k group sizes!

I have 5 of them.

I'm surprised the braintrusts at NBC News neglected to mention that some M98s have bayonet lugs, which means they could be used for drive-by stabbings and modified by criminals into weapons of mass destruction.

Don't know how it works now but a few years ago, (say 10 years anyway)
Rifles Serial # werent recorded for any longer than maybe a month.
If you ever had a cop give you a hard time, seen rifle in front seat etc.
and he ran the serial, it would come back
"No Record On File"
They just want to make sure it isn't stolen
So, just about every single bolt action rifle, serial # or not
Is not on record
It don't need to be smuggled in during Vietnam

I think the right that should be outlawed is the abuse of freedom of the press. One shooter can affect the rights of 300 million Americans. The press, with their biased reporting, kills millions every year. Think how they were responsible for shutting down information on Covid cures, vaccines are safe, opposition to abortion, supporting the war in Ukraine. The vaccines alone have killed countless, and will continue to in the future. This is fascism in its purist form, the conspiracy of the press and the Democrat party.

It’s why I don’t listen to the news.
They really excel in lack of knowledge concerning any firearm.
Like I said I won’t listen to, but I’m still waiting for them to report a “low powered rifle.”
A friend told me the news reported the bullets were engraved. He also showed me a picture of the rifle. Interesting for sure starting with the clarity (focus) of the picture.

The confusing part for me was they said it was an imported rifle chambered in .30-06. When have we ever imported old military firearms from a foreign country that were chambered in .30-06? Never. That's when. They're full of shit.
Some of our current rifles are not made in the US, (Browning, Howa, Bergara)
Then of course there is the Mauser 98

Well...mostly true, but I do have two FN M98s that were chambered in 30-06 for the Colombian military (Model 1950) ... supposedly Colombia's govt wanted to take advantage of cheap surplus 30-06 ammo after WWII...and then there were those Garands we gave to the Koreans only to import them back into the US in the '80s...until Obama decided gunz bad and stopped it...

Exactly, we need to stop the term "Sniper Rifle"
there is no such thing
A person is a Sniper, not the rifle
All they want to do is promote their anti gun agenda by twisting the narrative. Clear minds see it. These crimes are perpetrated by the actor, not the tool. The idea of personal responsibility doesn’t work for them. It’s always some thing or some body else’s fault.
