Does that particular stock have target and 700 tang options? It looks like a 700 tang mold.

After further inspection, the action as a whole is riding super high in the stock. I'd say if I set a 700 action in there it would ride high as well. Still talking with McMillan, but have a plan in place to get it fixed right and bedded if all else fails.

Measure from the top of the stock to the bottom of the inlet. That will tell you if the inlet isn't deep enough.

Today my stock arrived after its four month long repair. The inletting looks OK now, but I can't verify it...because they didn't send back my action.

Did you check the order to see if it was ordered for the rem tang or target tang?

McMillan makes great stocks for the most part but unfortunately Kelly is gone and I won’t support the new owner Bob Beck. Beck is a POS! He had to throw a ton of money with big shot lawyers at a poaching case to get a plea bargain reduced from a felony and only pay the restitution charges and lose hunting privileges. Cannot own a firearm or hold an FFL with a felony on your record so it would have ruined him of they hit him with charges in line with the Lacey act for transporting a poached animal across state lines. But of course our broken legal system let his money and fancy lawyers bail him out with just a slap on the wrist. I’m sure he’s poached a ton of animals which is why LEOs were already onto him. And for what? Just so he can look cool on camera? Screw that guy.

I’ve had worse luck with manners.

Yeah I ordered one manners a few years back and I think a hockey stick was straighter than the stock they sent me. CS wouldn’t do anything about it because it was an overstock that a different customer ordered and never paid for. Never ordered from them again.

For Sporter and tactical stocks, I think AG Composites is one of the top names in the game right now. Excellent quality and CS that is second to none.

Also talking in the sporter and tactical stock category, I just recently received a WOOX “Exactus” model stock and I gotta say it’s a very nice piece of work. The internet brings out the worst in people. Consider the incident posted above is over 10 years old, long before any involvement in McMillan and now because of that we want to hurt the employees of a company that have been doing a great job for a long time. (You aint gonna hurt Bob, Im sure hes gonna do just fine no matter what) Not to mention all that McMillan has done for us as shooters over the years, tens of thousandths of dollars in donations and sponsorships. You got to be kidding me. I thought cancel culture was only for the leftists.

Kelly did so much not Bob. It is yet to be seen what he does but he isn’t doing much yet cancelling sponsorships. I am sure he has kept some but he isn’t gonna she’ll out tons of dough like Kelly did as he has to recoup his money and in short time frame.
It doesn’t really matter if it’s 1 year or 50 years.

Bob is not McMillan, the people that work there are, the same ones I dealt with when Kelly owned it. My moral compass is pretty strong. I doubt Kelly would want the employees of his company hurt because of that article. Read it, it reads like cnn. Very slanted. Im not a fan of those type of hunting shows. But I still want to see facts. If there is a fish and game report showing intentional disregard for the law, ok. But if they agreed it was a mistake and the penalty was served what more do you want? Its all new to me, Im just not so quick to want to ruin one of the better companies in this industry.

My wife’s cousin works for the Oregon Fish and Game and he knows all the details. That particular incident happened in Idaho but Beck is from Oregon. Beck was actually at a rodeo up here in Kalispell this weekend and that’s what got my wife’s cousin talking about it. Told us all the details about how he drug it out in court for a long time spending millions of dollars on high caliber lawyers to finally come to a plea bargain agreement that didn’t convict him with a felony so he could continue his career in the hunting industry. The only thing slanted in that article is the details it leaves out how rotten the guy really is.

Not that I would normally bash on this out of the blue, but when people are questioning the new ownership and seeing incorrectly inletted products and poor service turnaround times, I just figured perhaps I could shed some light on the type of person they now have running things at the top.

Nobody has to agree with my view and I have nothing against the people at McMillan. Anyone can buy whatever they want. But when I personally know other companies can make just as good if not perhaps a superior stock to McMillan and I can get a quality product in a timely manner and avoid funding people like Bob Beck, well then that’s just what I feel like I should do. The facts about Beck and his poaching is clear, how I feel about it is only my personal opinion.

The last time I looked transporting illegally shot game across state lines is a violation of the Lacey Act which is a felony.
Beck plead guilty to shooting 2 deer with 1 tag and transported them across state lines soooo.

I hope McMillan can straighten out the glitches. I’ve always liked their stocks, had a good conversation with one of their employees last week and even mentioned this thread, he handled it well. Disappointing to learn the new owner has a past but hopefully it’s just that, a past. I like Alex’s take on it, lots of good people who worked for Kelly are still there and they’ve been doing it for a long time. My gun safes have quite a few McMillans in them. If they don't fix the bugs then won’t be around long, it will eventually catch up with them. I’ll keep giving them a chance though, not for Beck’s sake but because I like their product and there’s a lot of good people there who had nothing to do with one guys crappy decision.
