Can anyone tell me about the benchrest actions McMillan used to make? I have an opportunity to buy one, a single shot set in an old-school, thick ply, laminated stock wearing a surprisingly short, stainless, barrel chambered in .221 Fireball. Canjar set trigger, too. The blued action is engraved in script “McMillan†and has a two-digit serial number.
I imagine these are pretty rare as the limited info I've found on the Internet says McMillan only made actions of this type for a short time in the early years.
I’m wondering if a novice like me would be well served by this piece of history as a shooter, or if I should pass and invest my time and (limited) money on something more common.
